A philosophical poll re. George

Bush or Dick for 3 more years.

  • Dick makes me nervous, I'll stick with Bush

    Votes: 19 76.0%
  • I've had it with Bush, give me Dick for a change

    Votes: 6 24.0%

  • Total voters
    25
We have to deal with reality. It is fine to say that in an ideal world evildoers are punished regardless of consequences. I suspect that some might justify the Iraq mess because an undoubed evildoer got his just comeuppance. In the real world we have to take the consequences to heart. If I read you correctly, you want Dick. Am I correct? (And I am not judging, just want to know).

In rereading this I think that I might be too strong. Is this close? Your opinion on Dick is independent of your rejection of Bush. Thus, in dismissing Bush you will take Dick. That better?

Well, the answer to this is simple: impeach Bush. Then impeach Cheney. And if their replacement is just as bad, impeach that guy. And so on. Sooner or later you´ll end up with a tolerable president. Even if that means discarding half the political caste first.

Oh, forgive me I don't wish to make a mockery of your poll, but now I wonder did I choose Bush while really thinking of Dick.

I don't bi that excuse for a second.

I'm proud to say I was the first one to go for Dick. I was all about Dick before it was fashionable.

I think that they call that an election. The reality is that if Bush goes you get the Dickster until '08, vituperation notwithstanding.

GW is not going to get impeached. Are we over that one?

My question is, if he could be removed without acrimony (which is a major reason why I think impeachment is a bad idea) would you support it? That is to say, suppose the option was let George continue on for 3 (shudder) more years or immediately have Dick Chaney as President for those 3 (shudder) years?

Pick, dammit. No pussyfooting, no "if then else" crap. Grow a pair and pick an option. Bush or Dick.

A hardcore liberal friend of mine believes that if Mr. Bush were removed and Mr. Cheney took over, then everyone would see waht a complete a-hole he is and that would push enough people into voting Democratic that it would be the end of an era.

I say why the heck not try someone different? I'd love to see Cheney drop an f-bomb at a press conference.

Is a Dick in hand worth two in the Bush?

Dick is too good working behind the scenes. Get him out front where everyone can see him more clearly. He will be much less effective as President and won't be behind something being a pain in the ass.

Ed, your second intrepetation is correct. Cheney could be a hero or a villan, and in either case, I believe George Bush should be impeached (or not) based on the facts. To be honest, I think Dick Cheney would make a better president. I think he is more aware of what's going on in this country than George. A lot of people think he is heartless but nobody is accusing him of being brainless or lazy like George W. Bush. Besides, if Cheney pulled off a miracle and did a good job, he'd be a hard-to-beat incumbent candidate in 2008.

We'd have to impeach a loooooooooooooooooong way down the line to get a tolerable president. By that time, a new president would be elected anyway. It's hardly worth the effort.

I have a nagging suspicion that, if you guys were to do what I suggest, you´d end up with either you or Roadtoad as a president. Which would not really be a bad thing for America and the world, although extraordinarily cruel to the both of you.

Heh, not me. I've got too much of a temper. I'm usually okay, but then would come the day that the Prime Minister of Iceland says the wrong thing that pushes one of my (many) buttons and then I start a diplomatic incident because I wrote him a letter cordially inviting him to lick my dog's balls. Not presidential material, I'm afraid.

Well I remember the old anti-Nixon bumper sticker, and it works just as well for Cheyney, eh?

Among Icelanders that is a mark of regard.

I've always heard that Dick controls Bush, but in my experience, it is the other way around.

Inappropriate innuendo aside, George is the lesser of two evils in this particular case.

My question is, if he could be removed without acrimony . . .

But why can't he be removed WITH acrimony? For the longest time we've been subjected to the horrors of a BJ in the Oval Office and the sordid tale of an intern seduced, complete with the soft-core Ken Starr tome and the appropriate moral indignation; all perpetuated by the political party that brought you George W. Bush.

I WANT the world to know that Americans don't think a BJ at work is the worst thing that can happen, but starting a war based on lies, spying on the American people, chipping away our rights, changing the Constitution to reflect one party's opinion of what marriage should be, torture, opening secret prisons and killing more people than OBL ever did is FAR worse than a hummer from the fat chick in the mailroom.

(edited to add) I didn't take the poll because, in my opinion, it's like choosing between being stabbed to death with a pitchfork or being deep fried in hot oil - the result is eventually the same.
