Trump's Second Term

Not so fast. There’s still the window between Election Day and when the new congress is sworn in, early January. One of the older of the right-wing Supremes (likely Alito, but Thomas too) could resign and the Republicans would then move to fast track a young, Federalist Society-approved rubber stamper, who would take his/her oath before the calendar page flips to 2027.

Boom, the worst president in history will have put four people out of nine on the Supreme Court, those four (plus the other cons) making determinations for decades after Trump is finally relegated to the back row of Disney’s Hall of Creepy Robots.
Yes, I agree that there is a good chance either judge Alito or judge pubic hair will retire in by the end of the year, to be replaced by a younger judge who can carry on the work of promoting fascism for decades. But, if democrats DON'T take the senate, one or both would probably retire before the end of Trump's term anyways in 2028/2029. So there is no (additional) harm caused by then retiring in 2026 as opposed to 2028. And the current 6-3 split would continue.

But, stuff happens. People get sick, accidents happen, etc. Roberts may be younger than RBG was at her passing, and he may be younger than judge Pubic Hair and judge Alito, but he's still in his 70s. And Drunky McRapeface may "only" be in his 50s, but we may be one drunken bender away from another open slot in the supreme court. Its better for the Democrats to have control of the senate to block questionable supreme court nominations (even if no new slots open up), than to have republicans in control to help Trump place picks if slots open up by chance.

Plus, there are also lower court nominations that are relevant. Do you really want to see Judge Cannon elevated to the appeals court? Pam Bondi made a district court judge?

The economy may be ◊◊◊◊, the stupid war failing, gas and diesel off the charts, but the racism will always win the day. It was and is always about the hate, no matter what the cultists will try to claim.
The fact he can no longer control himself to not swear in public is a sure sign that something is going wrong in what passes for his brain.

Another top Trump prosecutor has been serving in role unlawfully, judge rules

Conservative lawyer Bill Essayli, chosen by President Donald Trump to serve as the top U.S. prosecutor in Los Angeles, has been found to have been serving in his role unlawfully by a federal judge.

Essayli, 40, was appointed acting U.S. attorney for the Central District of California last year but now becomes the latest member of the Trump administration to be ordered to stand down for overstaying their welcome following Tuesday’s ruling by District Judge J Michael Seabright.

Kathy Hochul is an evil woman. The Democratic Party should forfeit her seat because even if she wins, she will be of great consequence to them. Downward spiral for her. She will not escape God’s wrath. She did not denounce evil when she had the chance.

Another one that seems to the have slipped under the radar. The homoerotic connotations are pretty hard to ignore. Nothing wrong with that Donnie, you can come out of the closet, we won't judge you on that.

Sorry, again from Twitter:

Takes one back to Mark Epstein's email to his brother asking if Putin had "the photos of Trump blowing Bubba."

I'm seeing Trump stuff on FaceBook that's so nuts I have to wonder if it's AI'd. One today had him saying he sat down to discuss something with his husband ?!?!?!?

Re: If Dems win the midterms...
I still think he's going to be impeached and convicted.
I would say there is probably a 50/50 chance of him getting impeached.

If they do, the chance of getting convicted is probably around 5%.

Democrats likely won't go back and impeach him on past crimes. And while I am sure Trump is still going to continue doing impeachable stuff, the Dems might still hesitate unless they get a really good case against him. (They do have to appeal to moderate/centrist voters who may not like Trump but just want congress to "get on with their regular jobs", especially if the chance of conviction is so low.)

Conviction will need a significant amount of support from senate republicans. The problem is, even if Trump is a "lame duck", they still need to worry about MAGAchud constituents who might just sit out in future elections if they act to get rid of their Kult leader.
