No, Natalie. You can't have people taken off a ballot because you dreamed up a fairy tale excuse about their name and imaginary associations. Whoever the second Dan Sullivan is, the Alaskan election process would have certainly vetted him for eligibility before his name went on the ballot. And anyone eligible to vote should be able to read that ballot, and see that your guy is clearly and obviously distinguishable from him. Too bad.

Sadly, even if they win both the house and senate, they will not be able to totally stop Trump from messing things up.
For example, Trump will still be able to issue executive orders. He can still deploy the military. He still is the one in charge of international diplomacy. He still has the ability to Veto legislation that congress passes. And even if some his actions are later seen as unconstitutional, it will take months/years for everything to work its way through the courts.
So what can Congress do? Probably not as much as you would hope, but there are a few things:
- The most important thing is if they take the senate, they can block further Judicial nominations (especially supreme court nominees) nominees to the cabinet, and other high-rank officials. No more Drunky McRapefaces added to the supreme court. No more Keggsbreath in the cabinet. (Only the senate plays a role in confirming nominations, so winning just the house does not help them with this.)
- It will prevent congress from passing more bills like the Tax cuts for Millionaires bill they previously passed when republicans were in control. (This isn't necessarily a "proactive" thing, but more of a "prevent things from getting worse" sort of thing.) No more billions for the ICE gestapo. No more funding for Trump's battleship.
- They can also end things like the idiotic "investigation" into Fauci.
- They can attempt to pass legislation that may be beneficial (such as restoring funding for medicare, etc.) Now, it is likely Trump will veto such legislation, but since things like that would be popular with voters, seeing Trump veto them will make republicans look bad in future elections.
- They can investigate wrongdoing by the Trump administration. Committees investigating things like the reflecting pool fiasco and his ballroom plans. More information is never a bad thing, and congress can hopefully use its power to reveal illegal or unethical activity.

I would be searching for a J D Vance and making sure his name went on the list for the next POTUS asap. If you can only have one person with a name this produces all sorts of ways to screw the system.

Not so fast. There’s still the window between Election Day and when the new congress is sworn in, early January. One of the older of the right-wing Supremes (likely Alito, but Thomas too) could resign and the Republicans would then fast track a young, Federalist Society-approved rubber stamper, who would take his/her oath before the calendar page flips to 2027.
Boom, the worst president in history will have named four people out of nine to the Supreme Court, those four (plus the other cons) making determinations for decades after Trump is finally relegated to the back row of Disney’s Hall of Creepy Robots.
