I'm not religious enough to call myself...

I can't remember the last time I encountered a religious person, online or off, who wanted to tell me what I believe.
People are telling me what I believe all the time, here on this forum. Most recently in the rape culture thread, I think, but it's happened all over the place.

What I'm saying is, I can't remember the last time someone has, in person, subjected me to an interruption or emotional blackmail, being a theist who wanted to tell me what I believe.
It's happened to me, in real life. There's this shouty street preacher who sometimes shows up outside where I used to work. Once, for a laugh, I said "Hail Satan" to him and he called me a loser.

Mostly atheists. Poem is an outlier.

So, once. Maybe. If we believe you. What does this tell us about Gawdzilla's narrative?

If you mean "go with the devils" then it's "Ve con los diablos." It doesn't really work as a plural otherwie. It still works as a joke, but not grammatically. If you mean a specific devil (Satan, whatever), it's "Ve con el diablo." The article is mandatory in this case. Also, it's "vaya" if you're referring to "Vaya con Dios." Via is a noun.... meaning "the way" or "the route." Vaya is "go."

Don't over think it. It's simply a line Billy Zane's character used in Tales From the Crypt : Demon Knight that someone is trying to pretend they say IRL for ... reasons. Worked as a throw-away joke in the movie because you got the point in context even if the grammar was off or not. Beyond that it's pretty much in the "... and then the whole class stood up and clapped." zone.

I assume youre talking about semi-professional atheists. Give us some leeway. Exasperation, disgust, and (occasionally) alarm can roughen one's manner, over here in a stubbornly puritan country where the bod-gothering simply never stops.
Sorry if I was unclear, I meant the religious ones. And I do understand why there are some very angry anti-theists around in the US; if you've been brought up in a fundamentalist environment, and then seen through it, being anti seems a reasonable reaction!

I love it. I love screwing with the religious when they proselytize. Like Loki in the movie Dogma with the nun.

That's okay. I sometimes speak German when I try to speak Spanish. Or vice versa. Españdeutschlish can get a bit wonky, though.
Lived in Sicily for three years on the USN nickel. US rep for the Special Services tour bus (shopping trips for bored spouses, as far as Moscow once.) I learned enough of several languages to sound like a lunatic in any of them.

Highlight of that? Standing beside the lions at Trafalgar Square and watching teenage boys "roar" when a cute girl went by.

When someone tells me they're religious I know what kind of dick they might be.
Pre-judging them. Which is the literal meaning of the term prejudice.

If someone tells me they're religious, I don't give a ◊◊◊◊ until they do something that I object to. I have known many religious people who were absolutely not any kind of dick.

Carl Sagan was, IIRC, very friendly with a church elder or two. He found them to be interesting, thoughtful people who had their priorities straight.

You did note that I said "might be", ja?
Oui. But you're still setting yourself up for prejudice. If on the other hand you don't assume that just because they're religious they're likely to be a dick, and acknowledge that people are or are not dicks regardless of their religious views, then you're not prejudicing them on an arbitrarily chosen characteristic.

The only actual nasty people I run across in this issue are their anti-theist opposite number.

For clarity, to me - and I am clearly The Authority on the subject - an anti-theist is someone who hates or is against, god/s.

By default, they are theists, because you can't hate or be against something that doesn't exist.

Anti-religion* is different and perfectly understandable for people who feel harmed by religion.

*Anti-theism is probably a better term.

And yes, I am a pedantic prick.

No regerts.

Nah, definitionally. A theist is, non-negotiably, a person who believes in god/s. If you're anti-theist, you are against the person.

And even if we went with your definition, you don't need to hate or be against god/s, just the belief in them, as held by other people.

There we go. That's what (I hope).we are really talking about.

And you know that doesn't bail you, right?

We could agree that there is some non-zero number after navy guys who have raped children, right? So can I prop a halo on my head when saying:

"When someone tells me they are in the navy, I know what kind of child rapist they might be."

"Might be" ain't bailing you for ◊◊◊◊.
