Mockery as Pete Hegseth 'barks' at kids in football stadium about 'redcoats'

As war wages in Iran — spiking gas costs for millions of Americans across the nation — the Department of Defense kicked off the weekend by posting videos of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth yelling about "redcoats."

In a series of videos posted on Saturday, Hegseth shouted Bible verses in the middle of a football field while wearing a T-shirt with the words "THIS IS WAR" tucked into his gym shorts. He was speaking to Texas A&M students serving in the National Guard who worked out with Hegseth.

"I'll swear an oath to something timeless, the Constitution that doesn't bend, it doesn't break," Hegseth said. "The Lord said, 'Who do I send?' and Isaiah says, 'Lord, I'm here, send me'...send me to go fight the redcoats, send me to go fight the communists, send me to go fight the Islamists."

Some, however, took him to task for this nonsense:
"Some of you may think the job of the SECDEF is to advise POTUS, confer with senior leaders on strategy, acquisitions, R/D and other boring stuff," political analyst and The Atlantic staff writer Tom Nichols sarcastically wrote. "It's not. It's to do PT with kids and bark Old Testament passages at them while losing a war to a third-rank power in the Gulf."

"Europe is mobilizing as we read this," lamented Missouri Democratic congressional candidate Fred Wellman. "As the U.S. Secretary of 'War' is going PT in a football stadium and touring with his wife."

The president and the Trump Organization haven't provided evidence that he did.

President Donald Trump said Friday that his son Donald Trump Jr. has paid back a Russian oligarch with close ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin who the Trumps have confirmed hosted two nights of parties after Trump Jr.'s wedding.

Trump was asked in the Oval Office on Friday whether it was appropriate for his son to have accepted the gift from Umar Kremlev.

"Well, it's totally, it's totally allowed. And a lot of people have parties and all, but it's totally allowed," Trump said. "But as I understand it, he paid them back. He didn't want to have that, so I hear he paid them back. A person that he knows pretty, I guess a friend of his, gave him a wedding party. That's very common."

Also she goes into detail about the Venezuela "deal" that was negotiated but the Dept of War. The cash all goes into a mysterious bank account which apparently the Trump administration is using as a Congress avoiding piggy bank. No audit trail exists of what goes on and what goes out.

Sounds like they realise how that looked and that it hurt them.

Kinda doesn't matter if he paid the guy back as the damage is done. Though the one remaining way it could get worse is if it turns out they're lying about paying him back. That would be funny.

Typical Trump SOP from time immemorial. It's how his businesses have always operated. And now the USA is "one of Trump's businesses" because he's put new, fresh businessman ideas in the White House.

I don't know if that mode of operation - hiding transactions and laundering money - is legal for US businesses or not. I suspect it is definitely not. But I am almost 100%, nay 600% certain it is vastly illegal for US governments.

So it's a criminal offence. And if Trump has facilitated this, he needs to be criminally charged. He already has 34 convictions for cooking the books. So this time round he should attract the fullest penalty: 20 years imprisonment PLUS a financial penalty of double whatever he scammed out of Venezuela. That should be dozens if not hundreds of billions of dollars.

Seems like a gold-plated, home-and-hosed, slam-dunk for any Democrat-led House to impeach the crook the moment they can. Let's hope they do, first opportunity.
