It feels like this site is getting more and more saturated with ads and spam PMs asking you to buy their service, go to their school, etc. Agree/disagree? Thank God I found a job as it was the only reason I was going there.

Could not agree more.

I bailed from LinkedIn after M$ sent out an email saying that they would start sharing my contact details with their spam partners.

LinkedIn went steeply downhill after M$ bought it and tried to turn it into a facebook clone.

Along the way, I had to take them to task for spamming myself and my colleagues, with invite requests from a former colleague who was dead.

Once we realised that M$ were faking contact requests, many of us started treating all such 'requests' with suspicion.

I had an argument with Wolfman about 12-15 years ago about the value of LinkedIn.

It's always been rubbish.

Yep, and the supposed conversational posts made by people supposedly not pimping whatever (if you just go to https://www.linkedin.com) seem more and more like that's what they're doing too. ugh. Hopefully I'm done with it.

That was the only reason I signed up - redundancy at age 45 - I thought it would be a useful networking and job seeking tool. Deeply disappointed.

Instead I did quite well based on personal and previous work contacts.

I’m now retired and marked my profile as “◊◊◊◊ off and leave me alone”, sorry, “not seeking work, but usually get invitations of interest each month. A bit like cold callers from ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ real estate agents.

If I wanted to sell / was looking for work, I’d ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ contact you. Arseholes.

I just checked and my brother's entry from Linkedin seems to be gone ;11 years after his death. I don't know how they found out but he was still there a couple of years ago when I last checked. I can still send him an email at he address he used when alive.

I’ve never had any contact through LI that has led to a job. But I do regularly get messages from Indian guys who’ve clearly done a search on the professional certifications that I hold and want to know if I could teach a course in a couple of weeks. Which is an odd way of doing business.
