Yeah. I bought cheap. And I bought twice. But even though the first one fell over and sank into the swamp, the second one stayed up. And was cheap. So that's okay. And if in the end it turned out it didn't actually last that much longer than the old OEM battery did, well... I don't really know how to finish that sentence.

Eta: part of my work is getting into people's heads and figuring out what they like when they can't even articulate it themselves. It's like a game of 20 questions without the questions, which seems pointless till you get it right anyway

If only someone thought to include technical information in a thread about a scientific, mathematical, medical, or technological question. It's almost like the real point of this thread is to watch people flail away pointlessly at an under-specified problem.

TBF, I think most users don't even know the exact specs for their problem. They just bought the cheapest cable and then wonder why it charges slowly.

Plus, I think there is a lot of misunderstanding about what quick charging means. For the iPhone, it just means 20-30 minutes for half charge from completely empty, 1.5 to 2 hours for a full charge, depending on the model, even with the best charger and cable. It's not like it goes from zero to full in 5 minutes. It's only faster compared to older models that needed to be charged all night.

And also one might want to notice the time difference between 0 and 50%, and from 50% to full. If you plug it into the charger when it's 50% full, it will take anywhere between 1 and 1.5 hours to reach full charge, even on the best charger and cable on Earth. Again, it's only "fast" compared to older models which took twice as long or more. It doesn't mean it's gonna zip through the bar in 5 minutes.

I only had to do third level support as a dev, but man, the stories I could tell you. Clients didn't even know what they WANT, much less describe a problem accurately. Or one manager wanted something done to the data in the database, and half an hour later her girlfriend sitting 1.5m (about 5ft) away from her in the same room calls distressed to ask WTH just happened. (And yes, I literally mean girlfriend. They were openly lesbians. Nothing wrong with that, mind you, but you'd think if you're gonna ask for a database change, that's an easy one to talk to first. Like bounce that idea off her first? She's not gonna bite your head off.)

Thank F I had made a backup of the database first. (We had a DBA, but I was pretty much in charge of that particular DB. The DBA just ran the daily backups of it and had to keep Oracle up. But I made my own backup before doing that serious change anyway. Better safe than sorry.)

While I get what you are saying, many android phones will tell you unprompted if they are fast charging and tell you how long you have to wait till full charge. My Samsung will display if it is going to be 6 hours to fully charge, or if it shows the big Fast Charging indicator (green circle) and tells you that it will be charged in an hour and 40 minutes.

So whether a phone is quick charging isn't really guesswork or misunderstanding- the screen displays it.

What I was saying is just that some people seem to think it should be super-fast, when it's just fastER than normal charging, but as you've said, it still means an hour and a half.

All I ask is for an enormous battery than I rarely have to recharge but when I do it happens in seconds, and also it should not explode or burst into flames. And I should win things for using it.

Tru dis. While the internet on mobile is a cool thing and saves time and all, I sure miss the days of whole days going by between charging. Now, if you dont remember to charge at every opportunity, you can be in rough shape all day.
