This isn't just one or two aberrant individuals making a poor call, this is policy. It was particularly blatant with Tom Harlow in Edinburgh because of the position he took up, but support for the screaming mob arriving to attack women's events is SOP.

One comment "On Tuesday, a disciplinary panel heard that O’Connor told a female colleague in October 2024 that he “hope[d] you get raped on your way to Waterloo”, while he was off-duty in a pub." got him the sack. I think one comment like that is enough to commence disciplinary investigations, but the sack over one comment seems harsh. I would want it to be evidenced it was part of his normal behaviour, or it was part of a campaign of harassment against the female officer, before he was sacked. For all we know, she was mouthing off about him and he was retaliating, or it was a drunken attempt at humour from someone normally respectful and decent.

There is no doubt that was a pointless overreaction by the police, that has caused them a lot of discredit. We need to see the police getting better at establishing criminality.

I think they know perfectly well what they're doing. Harassing people is fun and easy to do. They're not even expecting a conviction. They just enjoy the power trip and it's easier and safer than going after actual crime.

Sorry, but he's goneburger, and so he should be. NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING justifies a comment like that to any female, let alone another officer. That attitude is clearly his mindset, and a clear indication he does not belong in any kid of position of authority.
