Merged Concerns over baby killer ignored? / Nurse Lucy Letby killed babies in her care

That's disgusting.
This is an horrific serial killer whose crimes are all the more wicked given the helplessness of the newly-born victims and the snatching away of joy from their parents, just to enjoy having that married consultant come running to her side, and manipulating him into giving her updates as to how the growing suspicions are going.

Her supporters deluded themselves into thinking Thirlwall was delayed because the CCRC was launching an inquiry but now the report is coming out after all. It was delayed because of the further police investigation at Alder Hey, not because her convictions are unsafe.

Can't see you campaigning on behalf of Ben Geen..?

Well that is a matter of opinion, and there are a lot of people out there who do not believe she did this.

My goddaughter, who is an A&E nurse, thinks she probably didn't do it. But would she put her name openly on a petition? I doubt it. She needs her job.
It's why we have a trial by jury system in which your peers decide the verdict under assurance of anonymity. There is then the safety net of the appeal system for errors of law. Letby has twice had an appeal considered. Dr. Shoo Lee made his representations in person (via Zoom). There is still the CCRC. Bamber has made dozens of applications. There is no limit to how many times you can apply.

Are you claiming some kind of post-natal hormone-induced psychosis in Clark, Cannings and Anthony?
Clark, Cannings and Anthony have zero in common with Letby. Clark's conviction was overturned as unsafe. I can't immediately recall the details of the other two, but if their convictions were overturned, it shows the system works.

And yet, if Letby's convictions are eventually overturned, you will refuse to accept the verdict and decry it as the result of some sort of conspiracy/incompetence/PR campaign, just as you do with those of Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito.

My point, which seems to have gone right over your head, is that my statistical sample of one is 100% on the side of the conviction being unsafe, and secondly, that it's highly likely that NHS staff would be very reluctant to put their names to a petition of that nature.

Benjamin Geen, a nurse whose convictions are somewhat dubious.

Thanks. I wasn't aware of that case. The Wikipedia article is shockingly badly written and written from the perspective of guilt, but if the facts are as stated I don't see what's so dubious about it. I'm certainly not about to leap on my white charger and ride to his rescue.

And speaking of AK, I see you're trying to smuggle in the canard that you've used in that thread that first-instance findings of fact can't be appealed. News flash: Yes, they can. There is a presumption that such findings are correct, but that presumption can be overcome on appeal by strong enough contradictory evidence, or in certain other cases.

Why were you asking, in the context of a comparison to the Clarke, Canning and Anthony cases, if smartcooky was claiming that Letby had "some kind of post-natal hormone-induced psychosis"? What was it about these cases that made you think of such a psychosis?

He seems to think Letby is like-for-like with those three. Ask Smart Cooky what was he thinking, not me.
