The Gospel

You can square any contradiction in any text this way.

If by "in this way", you mean by showing that a logically consistent integration of all accounts is possible, then I disagree with your statement; what I did was simply to show that any inconsistency that may exist fails to amount to a logical contradiction. Saying that you can square any contradiction in any text the way I've done is like saying that any two texts must be logically consistent with each other - surely not the case.

Each of the accounts is clearly talking about the last words the man uttered.

I daresay that's a reasonable interpretation, but it's obviously not the only one logically consistent with the text.

These are very close to Nick the Budgie's colors. The yellow appears in the wild, the blue does not. You can see a good Web site about budgie colors here.

You probably already know this but here is a site with some info and a pic of a couple of wild ones.

Just in case you're interested, and I'm sure you're not, but mainly to hijack the thread even more :) here is a picture of a galah my wife rescued after being attacked by something. His wing didn't reset properly so he can't fly. He has taken over a room in our house now and entertains us with strange snippets of conversation.

One quick question, KK:

So if I introduced you to a Muslim friend of mine who says that she knows that the Quran is true because when she became filled with Allah's love the holy scripture came alive to her, then you would accept her belief as being as valid, authentic, and true as your beliefs?

I reposted it because I didn't want it to get lost among the photos and such.

Oh and if you have a moment, how about letting us know whether you still believe that the posters here find the Gospel offensive?

He's gorgeous! Do you know how old he is?

Best guess of the specialist bird vet we took him to after we found him was maybe around 1 year old.

I had a long conversation with a great green macaw today named Sergeant. He lives at the pet store where I usually buy Nick's treats and toys (not the store where they were abusing the birds). The conversation was mostly our bobbing our heads at each other, him saying, "Hello" and me saying how beautiful he is.

I certainly prefer them to Kathy's trolling.

Or did you miss the point of recipies and kittens and birds?

I get the point (such as it is); I just question whether it's being expressed in a way that is consistent with the rationale behind thematic divisions in the first place. Why would someone who prefers the kitties not simply switch over to another thread, or another site entirely, where such things are the privileged topic? It makes it even harder to follow the thread, and that's saying something in the case of this one.

Are you honestly arguing the semantics of derailing a troll's thread?

I don't see how this answers the question, either. I've never heard of a derailed troll [ETA: whoops, I see you clarified this], but a derailed thread is another matter. It seems gratuitous and presumptuous.

Check the edit. I clarified.

You are such a pedantic ass.

Be civil and polite, fowlsound.

Ha! As from Herotodus:

They then began to build bridges across the Hellespont from Abydos to that headland between Sestus and Madytus, the Phoenicians building one of ropes made from flax, and the Egyptians building a second one out of papyrus. From Abydos to the opposite shore it is a distance of almost two-thirds of a mile. But no sooner had the strait been bridged than a great storm came on and cut apart and scattered all their work.
Xerxes flew into a rage at this, and he commanded that the Hellespont be struck with three hundred strokes of the whip and that a pair of foot-chains be thrown into the sea. It's even been said that he sent off a rank of branders along with the rest to the Hellespont! He also commanded the scourgers to speak outlandish and arrogant words: "You hateful water, our master lays his judgement on you thus, for you have unjustly punished him even though he's done you no wrong! Xerxes the king will pass over you, whether you wish it or not! It is fitting that no man offer you sacrifices, for you're a muddy and salty river!" In these ways he commanded that the sea be punished and also that the heads be severed from all those who directed the bridging of the Hellespont.

Frankly I see little point in this argument. Threads get derailed all the time, sometimes they come back to the original subject, sometimes not. This is a normal part of any forum I've participated in. It may cause some irritation if you are particularly interested in the subject that was being discussed but if you get too anal about it you'll spend a significant amount of your forum time dealing with the angst of it all.

In the case of this thread it was started by a troll and has drifted around all over the place, not the best example, I would have thought, to use for thread drift complaints.

...or you'll quote the membership agreement at me again?

Allow me to daunt you with my supercilious pretension by elucidating the finer points of troll thread derailing using grandiloquent vocabulary and pompous unnecessary references to points of logic. Though I am unable to properly express myself without sounding pedantic and condescending, I assure you that I am the most well mannered individual on this forum. Though your jests may cause the unwashed masses to cachinnate incessantly, I am called to a higher level of discourse. It is my destiny to sound like a thirteen year old American impersonating a eighteenth-century British lord. Turgid and ostentatious missives framed with obvious passive aggression will surely render those who would troll addled and torpid. I shall police the forum, for only I know how best to handle any situation. Though my point may be obfuscated, I feel a smug sense of satisfaction each time a flaccid, inept demonstration of my cognitive impuissant impresses someone with no command of the English language.

Feel the crushingly quaggy blow of my wit!
