A Revolution Could Soon Be Under Way in Iran

Yeah, because when a group with a legitimate grievance against the US killed a few thousand US citizens the US reacted with restraint and totally looked at their leadership to blame.
You're going to need to supply a wee bit more than this vague comment for me to know what you're talking about...
I mean, seriously, I know US education is bad, but is it really THIS bad? Bombing a country to get the citizenship to rebel against dictators has never ever worked. It always united the country against the ones bombing.
 You know this thread start well prior to US involvement, right?

9/11 was an attack on US citizens to try and punish the US for it's actions in the Middle East, with the intent to change that. Did it work?

Really? This thread has been going for 60+ years?

I think it was Mark Twain who said a people would rather be badly rules by one of their own then well ruled by an outsider. My real concern is that an empowered Iran might indeed try to take over the Mideast.

Are you a bit confused there, mate?

There is one nuclear-capable country in the ME.
There is one ME country currently illegally occupying territories.

Hint: it's not Iran.

Iranians are Persians, not Arabs.

It's Turkey.
Turkey isn't just nuclear capable, it has ~50 nuclear weapons. However these weapons belong to the US and are held there legally under NATO's nuclear-sharing arrangement.

Turkey is occupying territory in Iraq too. However this is done in cooperation with the Kurdistan Regional Government and a memorandum of understanding with the Iraqi government to jointly fight the PKK.

So Turkey isn't the country you are thinking of.

Point being that the Arab Countries would consider them outsiders and not "one of them" when it comes to being ruled, as dudalb was concerned about

That's the largest ethnic group in Iran, but not all Iranians are Persian. There are large groups of Azeris, Armenians, Kurds and yes, even some Arabs who live mostly in Khuzestan.
And most of whom have suffered repression in the reign of the Ayatollahs. Something the Iran apologist here like to forget.

Tell that to the people of Cyprus.
Which people? Cyprus has a long history of being populated by various empires in the Mediterranean. Ottoman rule began in 1570. 200 years later the population was 56% Muslim and 32% Christian. 100 years after that the Christian population had tripled to become 69%. By 1960 when Cyprus attained independence, 18% of the population were of Turkish descent and 77% were Greek. Of course the Greeks wanted it all, and most of them wanted Cyprus to become part of Greece.

Cyprus
The Greek Cypriot leadership believed that the rights given to Turkish Cypriots under the 1960 constitution were too extensive and designed the Akritas plan, which was aimed at reforming the constitution in favour of Greek Cypriots... and violently subjugating Turkish Cypriots in a few days should they not accept the plan.
Intercommunal violence erupted on 21 December 1963, when two Turkish Cypriots were killed at an incident involving the Greek Cypriot police. The violence resulted in the death of 364 Turkish and 174 Greek Cypriots, destruction of 109 Turkish Cypriot or mixed villages and displacement of 25,000–30,000 Turkish Cypriots.
On 15 July 1974, the Greek military junta under Dimitrios Ioannides carried out a coup d'état in Cyprus, to unite the island with Greece... In response to the coup, five days later, on 20 July 1974, the Turkish army invaded the island, citing a right to intervene to restore the constitutional order from the 1960 Treaty of Guarantee.
Turkey got painted as the bad guy for that, when they were responding to a lawless coup by a totalitarian foreign power, to protect the rights of the ethnic minority. Turkey's 'occupation' of Northern Cyprus is nothing like Israel's genocidal subjugation of non-Jewish communities.

The Cyprus Issue
The root cause of the Cyprus issue is the Greek Cypriots’ consistent refusal to treat the Turkish Cypriots, the co-owners of the Island, as equal partners on the basis of political equality. The Greek Cypriots do not want to share political power and wealth, including the Island’s natural resources, with the Turkish Cypriots... The Turkish Cypriots and Türkiye support a just, lasting, sustainable and mutually acceptable settlement on the Island based on the realities on the ground. These realities are simple and evident. There are two peoples and two states on the Island of Cyprus. The Turkish Cypriots have had their own, fully functioning state since 1983, namely the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

The issue with Turkey and Cyprus is not the initial Turkish support of Cyprus's independence, it is what happened afterwards and continues to be the case. Once Cyprus's independence was maintained Turkey should have withdrawn, that is the issue and you can make make an argument it is something like Israel and the "occupied territories" but really it isn't. It's a false equivalence.

It achieved most of its stated goals. The US pulled most of its troops stationed in Saudia Arabia, and permanently closed bases situated near Mecca and Medina.

Funny how many people forget the Iranian Regime's slaughter of 40'000 of its won citizens the past couple of years.
I think the war with Iran is a stupid, stupid, mistake, but let's not make some kind of good guy out of Iran..which is what a couple people here are clearly doing.
I love the way some people who accuse others of thinking in simplistic Black and White terms are often guilty of the same thing themselves. Politicla ideology of any flavor can be huge blinders.
