Trump's Second Term

Donald J. Trump
@realDonald Trump

Canada disinvited the United States of America to the opening of the Gordie Howe Bridge, which is fine, considering they are paying substantial TARIFFS to the United States, but the original Deal on the Bridge, which was terribly negotiated by a previous Administration, no longer stands.
We changed the terms of the Deal so that the United States of America now gets 50% of the Profit.
Thank you for your attention to this matter!
President DONALD J. TRUMP
Trump openly confirms he cheats. Here, he confirms he unilaterally ignores US deals, as and when it is convenient for him. The Trump USA simply cannot be trusted. Not that this comes as a surprise.

And being an MD and ASD I would challenge that being socially inept is the same as being a danger to patients. If you are operating on a neonate with a congenital heart defect (a heart the size of a walnut), on cold cardioplegia (giving you 90 minutes before brain damage starts), then empathy may not be the most valuable emotion whilst you are operating. Some of the best surgeons are psychopaths.

I am not sure a medical secretary is a good judge of medical competence. (My secretary would defend me too.)

As I would and have defended the vast majority of the doctors and surgeons I've met and worked with/for.

I'm only saying that I've met and had to interact with a number of really very problematic individuals, who showed that being able to pass exams and get diplomas, or even being technically very competent, doesn't prevent consistently stupid, dangerous, and sometimes criminal decisions and actions.

Said slightly differently, Trump simply cannot be trusted, yes. The Republican Party has long been rather untrustworthy and prone to betrayals, though.

To poke at something that can help explain that, though... Self-identified conservatives and self-identified liberals have been found to have roughly equal demonstrations of charity and empathy in total. The main difference is that self-identified conservatives tend to have an overwhelmingly smaller focus for such and tend to be outright sociopathic towards those they don't include in their in-groups. Once self-identified conservatives gained effectively unchecked power in the Republican Party after gravitating there for the various reasons that they did, the Party became outright poison to the US, given how small they made their in-groups and how much of the American population they excluded, before touching everyone else.

This is like the Superbowl for me. Gonna be watching the ◊◊◊◊ out of it. :popcorn1

ETA: I'm giving 50/50 odds he'll storm out before it's over

A second round of cyclospora and a new egg recall for salmonella.
Weird how this suddenly starts happening when Donsld scrapped safety regulations and put idiots in charge.

In this case, the eggs are a voluntary preventative recall, nobody has gotten sick, and it affects a tiny fraction of eggs in a small area.
This is a situation where the system is working the way it's supposed to.

I wasn't even aware this was a thing.

I wasn't even aware this was a thing.

By a funny coincidence, YouTube recommended that video right before I came here.
The guy does a lot of short videos talking about food panic, modern farming, being a black farmer (he has white employees who deal with banks, government agencies, etc. for him), and other topics.

Well let's see, he may have written the jokes himself. He said that when the Secret Service told Nicki Minaj to "get down" at the April dinner, she started twerking. The beef they were eating was personally run over by RFK. Made a joke about Biden losing consciousness. He joked about a new fighting event about Chris Christie and Jerry Nadler battling for a piece of cheesecake.

He called the incoming female WHCA president 'nasty' twice (but in joking way, right). And in a sign of loyalty called Karoline Leavitt 'nasty'. The main focus was about his ballroom. Rambled on and on about different types of guns that wouldn't be able to penetrate the windows. He said China has a great room but his is going to be a lot better. Attributed opposition to it as Trump Derangement Syndrome.

He kind of fixated on the chandeliers and wondered if he could take them with him. Bragged about how the owner of Paramount is going to rename some White House News Center thing after him. Claimed the rain forecast for his UFC fight parted like the red sea over the event. Plugged a street racing event the White House is working on. Once again exaggerated 150K people coming back after the 250 rain cancellation. He said he had a different persuasion than Anderson Cooper, and that's okay. ◊◊◊◊ on a handful reporters and celebrities (mostly Kimmel and Colbert) for one grievance or another. Really went off on Kaitlin Collins about her attractiveness but needs to smile more.

Showing just how long he holds a grudge, he couldn't let his Rosie O'Donnel feud go unaddressed. Droning off a list of journalists by name and insulting them personally. He's still listing his grievances with different reporters, getting tired of writing about it.

Overall he was pretty jovial and relaxed though. I didn't sense much real anger in his voice, kinda thinking possibly medicated.

ETA: Oh my god, he just re-explained how to spell dumocrat including that most people don't know that dumb has a B. I don't think it was meta. Defending calling people a fat pig and Elizabeth Warren Pocahontas. Can't forget to excoriate Jack Smith either. Told some really cringe joke about sex that I couldn't figure out (and I'm really good with sex jokes).

The audience reaction shots are uniformly dour and stone faced.

He finished with announcing his candidacy for his fourth consecutive term. It was a little over the top so I'm thinking it's a joke but hell who knows.

tl;dr About what you'd expect

I for one am surprised he showed up. But for any time for an opportunity to grab a mic and especially to get back at reporters, he's going to jump. Or slowly open his eyes and fumble to get out of his chair.

Let's just cut to the chase and demand it be United States of Trump

Just like with the Tappan Zee Bridge, change the name to your heart’s content, it’ll still be referred to as Penn Station by New Yorkers.

Or, citizens might go a more playful route and call the place “◊◊◊◊ Trump Station.”
