I dispute that characterisation. It was something that was so clearly criminal that it didn't need specific laws to point them out. I regard kangaroo courts as being for things that should never be considered crimes.

War Crimes are nothing new, even at mind boggling scale.
Executing the enemy leadership (plus all males) was not unheard of.

Claiming that there is an Overarching Law that doesn't need codification that is being violated and can be adjudicated by the Victors is.

Kangaroo might be an unsuitable expression, but the Nuernberg trials were not really a legal proceeding in anything but shape.

Again, I think they were a good thing, and we need ways to hold people accountable for things they themselves or others have made legal that shouldn't be.

Normally, as is common everywhere, the city has the primary jurisdiction over the names of streets. Here the state proposed to step in and rename it by statute, which the city is obviously compelled to obey.

There is also an explicit threat of violence by the state against the victim if they don't comply, including the possibility of being arrested and jailed - which is itself a kind of violence. Finally there is the emotional trauma from being accused of something which could go to trial, another form of violence. When the person calling for a trial has the means to effect it the threat becomes real. Donald Trump has openly called for people to be put to death for their 'crimes', and he would do it too if he got the chance.

(And yes, there is ample reason to think that doctors who provide trans-affirming treatments should be made to answer questions about malpractice and ethical violations.)
