On this day in history.

"General Lee, sir, I have no division." Gen. Pickett after the eponymous charge.
Should have saves that for July Third......

The fighting on the first day rages around McPherson's and Seminary ridge west of Gettysburg, ending in the Union forces being forced back onto Cemetary Hill and Ridge to the west of Gettysburg. The Union suffered a loss with the killing of General Reynolds, considered by many to be the best general in the Union army. He had just been offered command of the Army of the Potomac, but declined allowing Meade to take command.

lol. Apparently only one person in the whole country saw the premature Flixborough report even though there were only three TV channels at the time. Maybe she had a little too much sherry.

Many of those other things aren’t really mysterious either.

I'm sorry that I didn't post a TDIH for July 1st, but posting those was only temporary while I took a break from writing my seventh novel anyway.

But before I go, I just wanted to go over my last post, and although I do agree that most are not technically "mysterious," I've arranged many of them below under what I consider either their STRANGE, MYSTERIOUS, and/or related to the UNEXPLAINED headings.

Now, you may think that the ones listed below (relating to the unexplained) have been debunked, that doesn't change the fact that they are still an important part of that history. If you disagree with me, that's fine, but if you have any complaints or arguements, please direct them to the sources that I've linked to below. They are listed under each events' BIBLIOGRAPHY:

In 1826 John Adams, 2nd President of the United States, died, on the 50th anniversary of the nation he helped create. His last words are reported to have been "Thomas Jefferson survives." They had been great rivals.
He was wrong about Jefferson, who had died a few hours earlier.
