Trump's Second Term

Gibberish

Trump: "They didn't have people that didn't, couldn't, had no idea where they were. They didn't have people that couldn't walk up the steps. See those steps? *crowd is silent* They didn't have people that had no idea where the hell they were."

Trump on Panama Canal: We did a good job in Venezuela and we’re doing equally as well with the Islamic Republic of Iran. China is planning to take over the Panama Canal and we won’t let that happen.

Trump: I even had a conversation with Theodore Roosevelt. I asked how do you feel about the fact that the Democrats gave the Panama Canal away to Panama for $1

Trump: "It was the most expensive thing we ever built, and it was also the most profitable thing we ever built. That's a nice combination. A little bit like Venezuela. We're actually doing equally as well with the Islamic Republic of Iran. Maybe you've heard of it?"

Yes, then he cold-cocked you into next week.

Trump: By the way, on July 4th, it’s going to be approximately 107 degrees out, and I’m gonna go and I’m gonna make a really long speech just to show that I can do anything.

William Harrison, but heatstroke instead of pneumonia.

"Oh, you people are so terrible, wishing for someone to die like that. So compassionate."
There. It's out of the way, so people don't have to bother.

Please, please, please, be the next Zachary Taylor!

On July 4, 1850, Taylor reportedly consumed copious amounts of cherries and iced milk while attending holiday celebrations during a fundraising event at the Washington Monument, which was then under construction.[147][148][149] Over the course of several days, he became severely ill with an unknown digestive ailment initially resembling acute gastroenteritis. The illness initially seemed mild, and on the first day Taylor felt well enough to continue working. His condition worsened thereafter. His army physician Alexander S. Wotherspoon "diagnosed the illness as cholera morbus, a flexible mid-nineteenth-century term for intestinal ailments as diverse as diarrhea and dysentery but not related to Asiatic cholera", the latter a widespread epidemic prevalent in Washington, D.C., at the time of Taylor's death.[145][150] The identity and source of Taylor's illness are the subject of historical speculation (see below), although it is known that several of his cabinet members had come down with a similar illness.[151]

Fever ensued and Taylor's chance of recovery was small. On July 8, Taylor remarked to a medical attendant:

I should not be surprised if this were to terminate in my death. I did not expect to encounter what has beset me since my elevation to the Presidency. God knows I have endeavored to fulfill what I conceived to be an honest duty. But I have been mistaken. My motives have been misconstrued, and my feelings most grossly outraged.[152]

Taylor died at 10:35 p.m. on July 9, 1850. He was 65 years old.[153] After his death, Vice President Fillmore assumed the presidency and completed Taylor's term, which ended on March 4, 1853. Soon after taking office, Fillmore signed into law the Compromise of 1850, with the aim of settling many of the issues the Taylor administration faced.[154]

Trump on Eisenhower: "He was actually a very good president. People don't realize."

"Most people don't know he was president. He won World War II, captured Hitler singlehandedly. Then he invented cars. Second-smartest president ever, not as smart as me. He gave me some candy once."

In Switzerland we'll be having a national referendum later this year on the question of massively restricting the use of fireworks on the grounds that (a) there are injuries, (b) animals and lots of people are disturbed by them, (c) they pollute, and (d) they're a pain in the arse. Will be interesting to see how it goes.

Just to head off any comments about Swiss direct democracy, the people will also be voting that day on the financing of the state pension system and a couple of other more weighty topics.
I could get behind fireworks being limited to just licencesed events. Especially given the amazing shows that can be put on now with drones. The time for nailing Christians to a pole sorry a Catherine wheel to a pole is long past.

I don't think they include "I don't like it."
Every single ruling in favor of abridging a constitutional right is based on not liking something about the way it's being exercised, or the documented behavior of the person seeking to exercise it.

Shouting fire in a crowded theater*? I don't like it. Let's abridge the right to free speech.

Defamation? I don't like it. Let's abridge the right to free speech.

Felon in possession of a firearm? I don't like it. Let's abridge the right to bear arms.

History of gang activity? I don't like it. Let's abridge the right to free association.

Entered the country illegally? I don't like it. Let's abridge the right to birthright citizenship.

Nobody proposes abridging a right because they like the way it's being abused.

Honestly, I'm surprised they haven't gone full volksgertichtshof, declared Donnie the only font of law and themselves to be speaking in his voice.

It's what their hero, Roland Freiseler, did.
It would not surprise me, somehow, no matter how crazy it sounds, for someone of the Trump Thomas stripe to decide that the original intent of the Constitution was to give the president the power to write a new one and call the old one unconstitutional.

edit to add, to save some space and extra posts: When arguing about the issue of birthright citizenship, some have contended that it is really only an issue for those who have entered the country illegally, but I believe that is not the case for various groups who have been granted temporary protective status or parole. They were in the country legally, often for quite a while. If they have had children in that time, these are not the anchor babies of tourists and terrorists, and, as others have pointed out, the withdrawal of birthright citizenship renders them stateless if the countries to which they are deported does not choose to accept them. And, are memories here so short and so defective that we have forgotten that some people have been deported to countries from which they did not even come?

Why would they even bother going to that much effort. They will just do what they want and ignore the law. That's been Trump's MO since forever.

If you're going to offer a lecture on Constitutional law, it would help for you to know what you're talking about and maybe not come out of the gate being wrong.
The utterance of "fire!" in itself is not generally illegal within the United States: "sometimes you could yell 'fire' in a crowded theater without facing punishment. The theater may actually be on fire. Or you may reasonably believe that the theater is on fire."[3] Furthermore, within the doctrine of First Amendment protected free speech within the United States, yelling "fire!" as speech is not itself the legally problematic event, but rather, "there are scenarios in which intentionally lying about a fire in a crowded theater and causing a stampede might lead to a disorderly conduct citation or similar charge."

Also, in the examples you provided (at least the ones that are correct), it's not "I don't like it", it's "This situation creates a danger or harm".

But all you and the fascist regime you're simping for have in regard to birthright citizenship is in fact "I don't like it".

He has trouble counting past two without taking his shoes and socks off.

His penchant for congratulating his own intelligence after stating the obvious is kinda hilarious.

In explaining his dumocrat "joke" - "A Lot Of People Don't Know Dumb Has A B". Yes, Donald, they do. Pretty much everybody with at least a grade school education.

Or perhaps, "I don't like them."

Re the "dumb spelling" thing, if it wasn't for the fact it is Trump saying it, I would swear it was someone being extremely sarcastic. But being Trump, it is very sad for the USA that whatever an honest, sophisticated, educated statesman is in that country (Obama for example), he is the absolute opposite.
