That's Alberta. Any of the lesser provinces are more that welcome to build their data centers using girly vegan wind and solar.

Real men don't buy into that pussy 🌬️&⛅.
Big, strong, carnivorous, alpha-male fossil-fuel consumers will have none of it!

McBride Asks Wright If He Has Found Wind Turbines In China After Trump Claims China Doesn't Use Them (Forbes Breaking News on YouTube, June 10, 2026 – 5 min.)
During a House Science Committee hearing on Wednesday, Rep. Sarah McBride (D-DE) asked Energy Secretary Chris Wright if China had any wind turbines after President Trump claimed the country didn't have any.

As was to be expected, Chris Wright pretends that renewables are being subsidized and fossil fuels aren't.

It is hilarious to listen to these Trump appointees doing their utmost to avoid offending Trump while being utterly incompetent and lacking all factual knowledge.
4:48--> Sarah McBride: You know for a fact that there are tax incentives that are going to fossil fuel companies. You know for a fact that that industry has been subsidized in the past and today by this government by the actions of our
government. You just don't want the renewable energy industry to get the same opportunities as the fossil fuel industry. You're playing winners and losers and you're picking winners and losers.

Apropos of subsidizing fossil fuels: Alpha Male #1 is still sticking it to the effeminate fans of "girly vegan wind and solar."
Trump’s $700 MILLION Coal Slush Fund EXPOSED As Taxpayer Ripoff ERUPTS!! (Farron Balanced on YouTube, June 15, 2026 – 5:49 min.)
Trump is reportedly using the Defense Production Act to steer $700 million toward coal projects, drawing backlash from critics who say he is forcing taxpayers and ratepayers to bail out an outdated industry while families struggle with energy costs.

I Was Just Forced to Resign from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory": Climate Scientist Peter Kalmus (Democracy Now! on YouTube, June 10, 2026 – 9:32 min.)
We continue to follow the impact of the Trump administration’s ongoing assault on scientific research in the United States with an update from climate scientist Peter Kalmus, who says he has been forced to resign from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) after 15 years at his “dream job.” In an immense loss to the government’s capacity to monitor and assess atmospheric conditions, the JPL has lost about 30% of its staff since President Trump took office for the second time, says Kalmus, who warns that the dismantling of federally funded scientific infrastructure comes as rising global temperatures put the Earth in “extreme danger.” “We’re on this escalator towards warmer and warmer and warmer temperatures, and world leaders are not doing anything about it.”

Trump announces $700m coal investment using wartime powers (BBC, June 5, 2026)
"As a result of the $700m investment that I'm announcing today, we will protect 14 coal plants and 42 coalmines, a tremendous number, and build two new coal plants and one massive new export terminal," Trump said.
The president said $500m (£372m) of federal funds will go towards saving 14 existing coal plants and opening a new export terminal in California.
The Department of Energy will grant a further $200m to build new coal plants in Alaska and West Virginia, the first new plants in the US since 2013.

I don't think anybody'll be surprised that he justifies it as job creation – because we all know that wind & solar don't create any jobs in the industries manufacturing and maintaining wind turbines and solar panels.

Whinging egghead no longer has an excuse to get his nails done, grab a kale smoothie don a pair of coveralls and hit the factory floor to assemble some of those solar panels we keep hearing about. Seriously these people seem to think that their repeating the same message over and over is actually productive. WE KNOW! Less blah blah blah academic whining, more building. :)

Oh yea, and burn less fossil fuels.

Alberta pitches cheap natural gas for data centen boom, at odds with Canada’s clean power aims (Global News, June 9, 2026)
Alberta is touting its abundant supply of cheap fossil fuels to entice tech companies to build data centers for the AI boom, a move that would undermine Canada’s plan to link new data center development with clean energy expansion.

Canada is the world’s fifth-largest producer of natural gas, around 60 per cent of which comes from Alberta.

World leaders are returning home from the annual G7 summit, having failed to address issues such as income inequality, climate change and territorial conflict, while entertaining the wealthy executives of the artificial intelligence and fossil fuel industries.

Of course, they will!

World's Richest 10% Are Costing Earth Trillions, Study Finds (ScienceAlert, June 19, 2026)

Environmental damages of the top ten percent consumers exceed global climate and biodiversity funding gaps (Communications Sustainability/Nature, June 18, 2026)
The top 10% of global consumers is disproportionately responsible for transgressing planetary boundaries, causing damages for which broader society bears the costs. Here we monetise the climate change, biosphere integrity, biogeochemical cycles and freshwater-use footprints of these consumers using prices of the Environmental Prices Handbook.

Like dorks before them, these eggheads milking the global 10% issue fail to spit out just how much income or wealth one needs to belong to the global 10%. Sure they use Musk and a cute picture of a private plane as a distraction. Bonus eco-hippy points for recycling the idea, I guess.

So...what's the number then? How much income or wealth does one need to belong to the 10% wealthiest people on the planet?

So...what's the number then? How much income or wealth does one need to belong to the 10% wealthiest people on the planet?
According to the numbers in this chart (hover your mouse to see them), the average wealth of a top-10% individual is about 200 times the average wealth of a bottom-50% individual.

That's for the world. According to this chart, which is limited to the US, the top 10% have 67% of the wealth, which means the other 90% have 33% of the wealth, which means the average wealth of a top-10% individual in the US is almost 20 times the average wealth of those who are not in the top 10%.

According to this calculator, your household has to have almost $2 million in net worth to be reckoned within the top 10% of US households. That number comes from Federal Reserve SCF data, so it is repeated at many other web sites as well.

That threshold would be less for individuals than for households, but I have not yet turned up any reliable numbers for individual net worth.

That doesn't answer my question though. The article I was responding to cites the world's richest and all the US data is irrelevant when it comes to applying income/wealth at a global scale. Once we start looking at from a global perspective, household income becomes less important and many readers of the cited article might just find themselves in that wealthiest global 10% which is, no doubt, the reason they don't define what that 10% actually means.

We're talking American plumber vs Mumbai ghetto dweller here.

I did, but I dismissed it due to "which is limited to the US". This is a question about global inequality. Who cares about inequality within the US. Sometimes, not everything is about America.

Lol U mad bro?

Anyways, The European obsession with the USA and a healthy dose of TDS has obviously led to to become a little bit squirrelly. Google AI can easily answer this question but since we're dealing with data that's a decade old, then here's something from that era.

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/11/07/how...o-be-in-the-richest-10-percent-worldwide.html

Elon Musk and private planes? Nice try eggheads we all know that the worlds richest 10% is half the people living in developed nations.

So now...who's willing to donate, or beg their government to tax them out of, say, 25% of their net worth or income to save the planet.

I didn't think so.

No shrieking about BIG OIL, no whinging about government, no bleating about wind and solar. The authors of this study want you, John and Jane Q. Public to pay the debt they say you owe.

See, there's that European obsession with America again.

How's the EU doing? Got yourselves down to the requires CO2 emissions of 2.3 tones per capita per year yet?

Look over there! It's America!
