Merged (edited) General thoughts about Christianity and the bible

My sister’s one pushed me down the stairs.
Mine "wrote" with crayons in my sister's schoolbooks (my sister is five years older than I). But in my invisible friend's defense, he only wanted to help her with her homework. He also made me climb trees i wasn't allowed to climb. He never gave me any silly laws, however. Or sent bears to kill me, even if I teased people.

What, not even the baldies?

That's a good question, thanks.
Basically, I was raised in the church. Protestant evangelical,
a non-denominational community church.
But that was not enough to initiate a relationship with God.

At eight years of age I was attending a Summer Bible camp in Wisconsin.
In a morning chapel service the man speaking did as they always did, he gave
an invitation to receive Christ. He asked that all heads be bowed and all eyes closed.
But I found myself peeking to see if any of these "lost sinners" would raise a hand.

At that moment God spoke to me. Though it was a supernatural event,
it seemed as natural to me as anything. I knew who it was and wasn't frightened,
or disturbed by it. What I heard was mind-blowing. It came like a tap on my shoulder.

The message was clear and direct. "If you think it is so important, why haven't you done it?"
I was speechless. I answered with my feet. I knew the drill. I rose to my feet and pushed my way
to the aisle to go forward before we were even asked to do so.

When I was a young adult I made a connection about this event that had not been apparent
to me at the time. The man who led me to Christ was the son of the man that led my father to the Lord.
A Christian Alliance missionary that went from farm to farm inviting people to Sunday School
and sharing the gospel in the area where my father grew up. Basically in the middle of nowhere.
Such a wonderful mystery, the workings of our great God.
In that case you should read your bible from cover to cover, and not just the bits your pastor wants you to read.

It was a minor fender bender. No human harm.
Would you endure that if it meant a cure for your terminal cancer?
Or would you prefer to be left alone to die?

People endure chemotherapy because there is a proven correlation between that treatment and cancer being cured. You've admitted that you have no evidence that any cure occurred following the sequence of events you describe, let alone of any such correlation. It's pure fantasy on your part.

Who spoke to me when I was eight years old? What's your explanation?
It certainly wasn't my own train of thought. It was a total paradigm shift for me.
Rocked my world. Would I do that to myself?

In my testimony about vision like an eagle, who orchestrated the automobile
accident that brought me together with the cancer patient in need of prayer?
The vision had come weeks earlier. I almost missed the opportunity.

The man with the cane left the meeting pain-free. God healed him on the spot.
I didn't anticipate nor manufacture this. I just did what I was supposed to.
He reported the same heat I was feeling on my hands.
You spoke to you when you were eight years old. Religious pastors are dab hands at inducing mania in their adherents and bringing them into a state where they believe they're talking to god. They've thousands of years of pracitce after all.

PS the man with the cane could have been pumped so fullof endorphins from the event that he was able to ignore his pain, he could have been a plant working in cahoots with the pastor or the pastor could have exaggerated his condition to make it look like walking around without a cane to be a miracle. All three are far more plausible explanations, as they have bben documented to actually happen. Also if you ever saw that man again was he back to hobbling with the cane?
