Ed Israel/US Attacks Iran /Yet Another Country/Iran

I think you don't understand the concept
I understand it perfectly well. It's supposed to be like the Caspian Sea Monster.

But I don't think you understand it. Wave height is absolutely a limiting factor. Which is why the actual developer even lists rated maximum wave heights, and recommends this for coastal applications. It is not well suited for blue water naval warfare.

That's not what he said.

Yes. That's where he's been taking that oil out from. We've been taking it out of the reserve. He didn't say that he's been taking it out of Iran. I have no idea why you think that's what he said.

Trump very clearly said they were sneaking oil on ships past Iranian forces.

Do we have a strategic reserve located someplace that requires us to sneak it past Iranian forces?

Another night of air strikes will do it.

FOX: We have reports we've just confirmed with U.S. Officials that air strikes have begun against Iranian targets. We can expect to see, I think, over the next few hours a number of new targets hit inside Iran. The feeling is that another night of air strikes may bring the Iranians back to the table

Hegseth: "If we need to negotiate with bombs, we'll negotiate with bombs. And we're very good at it. Nobody better in the world."

Hegseth: "As President Trump said, they've been tap tap tapping. Instead, they're gonna have tap tap tap bombs dropping on key facilities in Iran from the United States of America."

REPORTER: If the response is hitting bridges and electrical infrastructure, how is that not a war crime?

HEGSETH: That's precisely the kind of disingenuous question I'm used to from the media -- impugning the motives of the folks on our side

Anywhere on the open sea anything flying close to the surface has to be above the wave tops. 'sea skimming ' missiles aren't anything new.
Except sea skimming missiles don't have to worry about waves. Ground effect aircraft do.

I had them fired in my general direction over 40 years ago.
What would be new is the pricetag, ability to loiter and flexibility from where it is launched.

It's not just destruction - they could also be used to monitor a ship and listen in on onboard communication.
The payload would probably be too small to cause anything but major inconvenience, but that would be enough to take the vessel out of action.

The World consumes over 100 million barrels of oil every day, so what he's saying is the US has gotten one day's worth of oil through the strait in a month. This would be less than 5% of what normally went through without any effort before the US started this war. Such a wildly successful effort which 95% failed to just get us back where we were.

Not that I'm complaining mind you. An oil shock caused by a stupid war in the ME is exactly what I was hoping for, and I have zero sympathy for people who are hurting due to high gas prices. I'm also glad that Trump's bullying tactics are escalating the conflict. I just hope Iran continues to be stubborn for as long as possible no matter much it hurts them, and that they have enough ordinance to last at least a couple more weeks. I hope Iran continues to destroy oil infrastructure in the Gulf too. This is all good news for the planet!

They loiter by floating. At which point, you might as well just use a drone boat. Which has the added advantage that it can handle waves.

This is a neat technology with very niche use cases which do not include open oceans. It’s not a game changer.

That's separate from the strategic reserve releases. And it's not Iranian oil either.

Trump didn’t say anything about strategic reserves. That’s something you claimed and are now trying to pivot away from.

Trump explicitly said the oil was being sneaked past Iranian forces.

What oil is he talking about?
