I think it's worth trying out. Can you arrange for eight billion red and blue buttons with supporting infrastructure on short notice?Another question: What happens if exactly 50% vote blue. That possibility isn't covered in the OP.

If more than 50% push blue, or 100% push red, everybody survives. Yay! I do not find that unacceptable. I find the risk that the blues don't make 50% unacceptable for me. That is why I push red. The blues are obviously willing to take that risk. They are entitled to do that. They should not whine if they don't get the numbers, the risk was laid out clearly before they pushed.
Which people? The dead ones? They should absolutely complain; it is ridiculous and evil to force people to make such a choice. And it is also completely appropriate to deplore that, faced with that choice, so many people opted to make pressing the blue button a capital offence simply to save their own skins.
Red voters, similarly, should not "whine" when people call them out as selfish, callous, cowardly, and even evil for making such a choice.

You were the one who posited blue voters' "whining" if they didn't get the numbers. You tell me.Which people? The dead ones?![]()
Te choice was forced upon us by Emily's Cat in the OP. Don't blame me for that. And pressing the blue button is not a capital offence. The blue pushers are not punished, they just die. As living things have to do, like I said before. They should absolutely complain; it is ridiculous and evil to force people to make such a choice. Red voters, similarly, should not "whine" when people call them out as selfish, callous, cowardly, and even evil for making such a choice. Nor should they "whine" when the less immediate consequences of their decision come home to roost, such as there being no rescue workers left in the world when their town floods.
Oh yeah, that. Briefly whining, then. And then dieYou were the one who posited blue voters' "whining" if they didn't get the numbers. You tell me.
If you vote red, you vote to make pressing blue a capital offense. That only happens if enough people vote red.Te choice was forced upon us by Emily's Cat in the OP. Don't blame me for that. And pressing the blue button is not a capital offence. The blue pushers are not punished, they just die. As living things have to do, like I said before.
"Capital Offense" implies accusations, prosecutions, trials, juries, appeals and ultimately execution. None of these apply, except perhaps the execution. So far, the exact mechanics of the blue deaths have not been explained. I heard Microsoft is very curious about that one too.If you vote red, you vote to make pressing blue a capital offense. The OP doesn't specify the latency period. For all you know, they have three months to realize what you did to them and react accordingly.Oh yeah, that. Briefly whining, then. And then die
Or 80 years. That would sure solve a lot of problems if it also applied to the blue death latencyThe OP doesn't specify the latency period. For all you know, they have three months to realize what you did to them and react accordingly.
"Capital Offense" connotes an action that you can be killed for committing. Right. And Blues think people generally are *not* ghouls and will not have a majority win in this universe. All polls show we are right.
Not "be killed". Just dying."Capital Offense" connotes an action that you can be killed for committing. In this case, pressing a blue button.
Right, it took you a while to realize the game theory involved. We saw it on first reading. Then we applied practicalities, and decided on Blue. You applied practicalities and said "◊◊◊◊ 'em, I like mass graves and global meltdowns. To each his own paradise, eh?See, that's pretty much the short train of thought that led to my pressing blue on the Twitter poll within seconds of reading it. Then I actually thought about it.
Good to see you, and don't be shy. This *is* a weird one and really interesting in a goofy way.Anyway, I usually don't engage in conversations here, but this thread had a weirdness that I could not resist. I hope I helped getting it a little bit weirder still. But for now I will be busy elsewhere, maybe pop by in a couple of days. [Back to lurking mode]
Oh FFS, you're enamored of the scent of your own flatulence. Seriously, Blues have been called dumb maybe a handful of time. You on the other hand, have repeatedly called Red cowards, killers, and said they want Blues (corrected from Red) to die. At least have the intestinal fortitude to own your poor behavior.@Emily's Cat : EC. Babe. Thermal loves ya. You know Thermal loves ya. Thermal just doesn't like little milquetoast jabbing. Take it to the mat, and fast.
That said, I wouldn't fault a Red voter in certain contexts. The problem is, you and Rolfe are presenting the worst possible contexts.
Here's a good example: "I voted Red because I can't allow my fate to be in someone else's hands. I have to be in control of my own destiny, and if that jeopardizes the Blue Voters, sorry man but I didn't make up this poll or its consequences. I need to stay alive at all costs for my kids". I actually wouldn't have much of a problem with that argument, even though I disagree.
That's not what you and Rolfe argue, though. You feign intellectual superiority, outright calling Blues stupid, and imply that we are to dumb to even understand the argument. You insult each and every one of us with that kind of posting, especially because you stopped thinking about it at step #1, and we kept going a few more steps.
You know, you just keep making assumptions that imply negative character. We got the game theory when reading the OP in the first poll, and we thought it through some more (after you stopped thinking about it), and came to a different conclusion. If you want to Sea Lion your choice as acceptable, maybe you shouldn't keep insulting those you want to accept it?
