No, I'm saying that both scenarios have factors that make them plausible, the fact that people accidentally drown doesn't invalidate that people commit suicide by drowning Their mother having died that way makes that seem more likely to me than them going for a paddle and all three accidentally drowning but knowing the beach there are factors that make it more possible than on some beaches. I don't know which it was so why wouldn't I consider both options and discuss factors I know about that might be relevant?

Fair enough, three women whose mother drowned choosing to go paddling at night seems unlikely to me, as does all three of them drowning accidentally. Neither of us know or even has all the information, your opinion is as valid as mine. What I would add is that in the suicide option I'd include the possibility that one of them decided to kill thenself and her sisters died trying to save her

Is it not more likely that one ran into difficulties and the sisters died trying to save her? These chain deaths are very common with bodies of water and enclosed spaces with gas.

You've clearly not been on a night out in a town with a convenient beach. People sometimes choose to go for a dip to round the evening off. I've done it myself more than once.

Yes, people go in the sea at seemingly unlikely times, but I keep coming back to their mother dying by drowning, I can't help feel that would make them more wary around bodies of water. And if they were only paddling rather than swimming it seems less likely that all three would get into difficulty, fall over on that beach when the tide is quite high (against the shingle) and it's hard to get back up, but if one person fell the other two could help them to their feet quite easily.

The highlighted I agree with you on. I phrased it wrong in my first post and gave the wrong impression, I wasn't necessarily thinking of them all deliberately committing suicide, although it's possible, but more that it was a suicide attempt by one or more that led to all three dying. All three is possible but not necessary, however, if one became suicidal, suicide idolation can spread in small close knit groups, so it wouldn't be as if all three spontaniously decided to kill themselves, one might have been planning it for some time and gradually brought the others over to the idea.

ETA: I'd also note that even with the nice weather, the English Channel is still going to be cold this time of year, not so bad that people won't go in while the sun's nice and hot, but not something I'd fancy on a May night for recreational purposes.

My first thought was triple suicide. I can't begin to understand how anyone arrives at suicide as an option, but all three is right out there.
