Merged (edited) General thoughts about Christianity and the bible

I forgot to bring a thermometer. - LOL

My experience and the man I prayed for was tremendous heat.
Would 39 ºC describe a tremendous heat?
I know I was perspiring from the heat.
And that manifestation of heat is reasonably common.

You already thought I was full of hot air, right? - LOL
What sort of temperature would you guess the heat you experienced was?

A skin contact thermometer needn't be very expensive and gives objective readings. If you want to measure something that isn't uncommon but might be actual evidence of something extraordinary you could carry one just in case.

Perspiration isn't supernatural.

So, we're back to the feels, rather than anything approximating evidence.
Let's see...

God created the known universe. I can see this plainly. (evidence of a creator God)
Jesus wants a relationship with me. Done.
Any questions?

The microcosm is as complex as the macrocosm.
Who planned that?

Miracles have a mind of their own, it seems.
They don't warn us ahead of time so that we can set up an experiment.
Nor are they usually repeatable.

A boy's lunch fed 5,000 with 12 baskets of leftovers collected. (one for each disciple)
Other regions report just as wonderful miracles as those sponsored by the Christian God. Does he involve Himself in those too?

You tell me, as you are the one who reckons there are problems with it not matching your reading of the bible.
So, your claim is no glitches in evolution. (unless I can point them out) ???

Claims, not remotely close to evidence.

No evidence for a god, let alone a creator god: just your claim and "feels".

Jesus, assuming he exists, thinks I'm a twat, 'cos I bailed on my birth flavour of christianity. Thinking he talks to you is further evidence of psychosis, a combination of delusion and auditory hallucination - up your meds.

Why the need for planning or a planner? And also no evidence for either.

We are back to your "feels".

And why are your "feels" and your version of a god any better (or less bad) than any of the bazillion others? Aside from your "feels"...

Shouting merely emphasizes your scientific ignorance. Calm down and get an education.

And here we are!

The standard creationist and ID claims which have been dealt with many, many, many times over the years.

Nothing remotely new: this is very boring!

Can't the creationists and ID-ers at least get some new ideas, rather than tedious repetition?

God created the known universe. I can see this plainly. (evidence of a creator God)
No, that's circular reasoning. There are many creation myths. You latched onto the first one you heard and jumped in with both feet. That's just feels.

Jesus wants a relationship with me. Done.
Something you imagined to be true. Just feels.

Any questions?
None that haven't been asked already and ignored by you.

The microcosm is as complex as the macrocosm.
Who planned that?
The emergence of structure does not indicate a creator.

Are there no glitches in evolution?
Depends what you mean.

Like I said before, all it is, is the result of occasional random mutations and the benefit (or, more commonly, disadvantage) they provide to the creatures they happen to. If the mutation is useful, a creature may survive better and have more offspring, to inherit its helpful trait.

Mutations can cause stuff to go catastrophically wrong and the results are not survivable. You can call that a glitch if you like. Or they might change your eye colour. Less of a problem.

There's no plan. There's no target or end point. Stuff just changes from time to time and nature keeps the good bits, where all "good" means is "doesn't die so much and tends to survive long enough to reproduce".

If you live on an island with regular food scarcity it would help you to have a constitution that tended to put on lots of weight when food was available. You're more likely to survive the lean times than your fellow islanders who don't. It's like selective breeding except the "selection" is just the pitiless result of dumb luck and your natural environment. Which is why they call it "natural selection". So your kids tend to put on weight like you do, and more of them survive too, and the population of your island eventually tends more and more to have that sort of constitution. Spin forward to modern times when food scarcity is a solved problem and your advantage becomes a disadvantage because you've evolved for a different environment and now you all tend to become obese.

So, your claim is no glitches in evolution. (unless I can point them out) ???

I suspect it will not surprise you to be told these purported flaws are nothing of the kind.

I could recommend a couple of books if you were interested. Richard Dawkins "The blind watchmaker" is very good though I presume you have been warned off having anything to do with his writing. If it's any consolation even strong supporters of his ideas can be coaxed into agreeing he can be a bit of a dick.
