Merged (edited) General thoughts about Christianity and the bible

Paul (Saul) had a personal relationship with Christ which began on the road to Damascus.

2 Corinthians 12:1 1 NIV
I must go on boasting. Although there is nothing to be gained, I will go on to visions and revelations from the Lord.

1 Corinthians 11:23 NIV
For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread,

Ephesians 3:3-4 NIV
that is, the mystery made known to me by revelation, as I have already written briefly.
4 In reading this, then, you will be able to understand my insight into the mystery of Christ,

Romans 16:25 NIV
Now to him who is able to establish you in accordance with my gospel, the message
I proclaim about Jesus Christ, in keeping with the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past,
Do you have any evidence to support this?

Most Christians hear about how he fulfilled hundreds of prophecies, there's a document that floats around the internet these days as a file and used to be a paper list that I think has about a hundred filled prophecies on it. Once you look into those prophecies you soon realise that many people could have fulfilled that level of prophecy! Have you ever ridden a donkey? If so you are the Messiah.

Plus then you have the issue that the authors of the gospel often not seeming to know what was in the Hebrew bible, getting books wrong, misunderstanding the Greek translation and so on. The absolute bedrock of the sect that came to dominate Christian faith for hundreds of years is Jesus being born of a virgin and that fulfilled a prophecy. Problem with that is it came from the authors of Matthew not seemingly to be able to read biblical Hebrew and reading the Septuagint translation and grabbing the wrong end of the stick. In the Hebrew the word is not virgin it's the word for a young woman and it gets worse. When you read the actual full prophecy you learn that this young lady is already pregnant when the prophecy is given! (I've mentioned the actual prophecy earlier in the thread.) It's astonishing what one misunderstood word can lead to.
This! There is a YouTuber Justin DZ. Deconstruction Zone. He is an ex pastor with a BA and a Masters
He emphasizes this point. I highly recommend watching him. https://youtube.com/@deconstruction_zone?si=tFQmYCofs9UlaRw5. He embarrasses Christian callers who think they know the Bible. The man has studied in depth both the Greek and Hebrew writings. New Testament writings constantly get wrong what it actually says in the Old Testament. It does this clearly for multiple reasons. One, because of poor translations. And two, because it doesn't care. They are telling a different story.

I just gave it to you. Why would you discount the Bible as evidence for what the Apostle Paul did?

Again, who gives a flying feces what Paul said? What makes you think a word of it has any relationship to what is true? And how exactly does a living person have a relationship with a dead man? How intimate was this relationship? Necrophilia is a little too kinky for me.

That it's almost lunchtime.

Sounds as if there's a market for fresh revelations. Who can say if The Book of sackett is authentic
or not? Or when The Newstament of AcbyTesla was composed? The Holy Flashdrive misleads us
not into temptation, and anyway what if it does? The Mishna of the Last Beachparty is consolation unto
hangover, yay even unto acid flashback!

I tell ya, fellers, thar's gold in them thar scams.
Between your and Tragicmonkey's gospel I can't wait for the new edition.

How trusted is this guide who's led you to this predicament?

The "guide" has to get him into predicaments in order to rescue him.
A modern Elisha, leading him into a trap?

2 Kings 2:23-24
Then Elisha went up from there to Bethel. And as he was walking along the road, some youths came out of the city and mocked him, saying, ‘Go on up, you baldhead! Go on up, you baldhead!’ Then he turned around, looked at them, and called down a curse on them in the name of the LORD. Suddenly two female bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths.

It's meaningful to me. (having studied it)
He was writing letters to the churches he had visited. You can discount that if you like.
But I view his writings in that way. We also have the account in the Acts of the Apostles as to what he was up to.
