What's the difference between a prayer to which the answer is not "yes" and a prayer to which there is no answer at all?Not every answer to prayer is "Yes."
Experience is a poor guide to truth. We experience weird ◊◊◊◊ all the time and we don't always have a scientific explanation for it. That doesn't mean that you can shoehorn your personal belief into the gap.Based on my experience.
Are you saying there is no room for doubt in spiritual realities?
If not "Yes.", it is "No.", or "Wait."What's the difference between a prayer to which the answer is not "yes" and a prayer to which there is no answer at all?
Truth is weirder than fiction.Experience is a poor guide to truth. We experience weird ◊◊◊◊ all the time and we don't always have a scientific explanation for it. That doesn't mean that you can shoehorn your personal belief into the gap.
Is it? If the answer is not "yes", how can you tell the difference between "no", "wait", and no answer at all?If not "Yes.", it is "No.", or "Wait."
But "No." is different than no answer at all.
Very. Truth is weirder than fiction. Just look at Donald Trump. But that doesn't mean that your fiction, or anybody else's fiction, has priority over truth.Truth is weirder than fiction.
You can't make this stuff up.
Sound familiar?
Good question. Is it? If the answer is not "yes", how can you tell the difference between "no", "wait", and no answer at all?
Conscious of it in what way?Typically the person that gets a "No." is conscious of it.
Simple logic, I suppose.Conscious of it in what way?
You suppose? Supposition is not truth.Simple logic, I suppose.
But how can you tell?If it's not a "Yes.", and it's not a no-answer, then it is a "No."
Peace came over me this morning, and I felt reassured, while I was sitting on the toilet.A peace comes over them. They feel reassured, even though it's not a "Yes."
A sign of some sort? You mean, something happens? You do realise the vast number of possible events that can be interpreted as a "sign", right? Back in the day, they interpreted the flight of birds as a "sign". They interpreted "signs" in the stars. Simply saying "a sign of some sort" defines nothing concrete or significant.Usually accompanied by a sign of some sort.
It sounds like you believe the Mormons are obviously right, then.A peace comes over them. They feel reassured, even though it's not a "Yes."
Usually accompanied by a sign of some sort.
You say that like it's a bad thing. You suppose? Supposition is not truth.
Lots of experience. You just know. But how can you tell?
The BIG event. I had one too.Peace came over me this morning, and I felt reassured, while I was sitting on the toilet.
Again, you just know.A sign of some sort? You mean, something happens? You do realise the vast number of possible events that can be interpreted as a "sign", right? Back in the day, they interpreted the flight of birds as a "sign". They interpreted "signs" in the stars. Simply saying "a sign of some sort" defines nothing concrete or significant.
Yes it was.I saw a spider coming down the wall while I was sitting on the toilet. Was that a "sign"?
They didn't get everything wrong. It sounds like you believe the Mormons are obviously right, then.
I'm not talking about Mormon cordiality. What you're telling us is the criterion for knowing that God is talking to you is the criterion Mormons say should convince you that only Mormonism is right, even if you already belong to a Christian religion. Are the Mormons right on that point? They didn't get everything wrong.
I used to have a Mormon for a neighbor. (downstairs in our duplex)
Heck of a nice guy. We got along fine.
It usually is. Let's say you are arrested on a criminal charge and arraigned before a judge who says, "I suppose you're guilty. I'm sentencing you to jail." Is that right? You say that like it's a bad thing.
But you can't articulate anything that doesn't sound like auto-suggestion. Sounds like you don't know.Lots of experience. You just know.
Again, you just know.
Or as Randolph Churchill is supposed to have said, "God, isn't God a ◊◊◊◊!"Have not read the thread. But I have an answer to the title.
Allah is an ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ who prefers rich sinners to the devout poor.
You just know. How do you know? Please go into detail.Again, you just know.
Yet Matthew....Good question.
Typically the person that gets a "No." is conscious of it.
They know that God has a different idea about how to solve the person's issue.
Sometimes God has mercy on us by NOT answering that kind of prayer.
"Wait." is basically a "Yes." with an extended fulfillment.
A no answer, is a tough one.
Ultimately, it's best to turn over a situation over to God completely.
When Moses had his back to the Red Sea, he didn't pray for God to open the waters.
That was God's idea. --- Best to leave the solutions to Him.
Not trying to simply snipe from the sidelines or the like, but it seems to me that one of two scenarios is in play with our newly registered evangelist.
1- he registered here and didn't do any/much lurking or 'reading the room'. That's mildly rude, but whatever. I'm sure he'd not be alone in that category if that's his thing.
2- he knew what this place was, and still thought "Despite these people having heard and debated these same arguments countless times over many, many years (decades), I'll be the one who changes their minds!
To Rusty - like I said above, 1 is impolite, but not exceptional. But if it's 2 - wouldn't you think that'd be a bit on the prideful side? Meaning, you bring nothing new to the argument, but you think that you yourself making it would be the difference? Isn't pride considered a sin in your ideology?
Why do you think that you, personally, will succeed when so many others before you failed?
