General UK politics VIII - The Last Tory

The English Remnant
@Englishremnant
My Celtic ancestors carried Celtic daggers. My Anglo-Saxon ancestors carried the seax. For centuries, blades were part of the culture, daily life and self-defence of the native peoples of these islands. The 1689 English Bill of Rights even recognised that Protestants could “have arms for their defence” under law.

Today, Sikhs are granted legal exemptions to carry the Kirpan as part of their ancestral and religious tradition. Yet if a native Englishman openly insisted on carrying a seax as part of his own ancestral tradition and heritage, what do we honestly think the response from the authorities would be? 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

One rule for natives, another for everyone else.

And yet oddly I regularly walk around with a pocket knife with a similar size blade to most of the symbolic/ceremonial kirpans which are carried in this country. And I reckon it is quite a lot sharper too.

Repeatedly calling a kirpan a "sword" is highly disingenuous at best, unless there is some other reason for that labelling.

ETA Does this nugget not know that Celts and Saxons are immigrants/invaders, rather than native?

He had a ceremonial Kirpan under his clothes. The weapon (as I understand it from a docu on the Sikh martial art Shastar Vidiya, Shastar means weapon) used had a 21cm (8.2 inch) blade. The Sikhs I know are usually very discreet with their Kirpans.

I have my long Seax right next to me. ⚔️

I see no reason we shouldn’t be allowed to carry them. It would not only be traditional but also increase a level of politeness and societal correctness not witnessed since the days of duelling.

I opt for Legal Carry of the Seax

Why do I have the feeling his seax isn't as long as he'd like us to think...

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage failed to pay a debt of £9,400 and had a County Court judgment imposed against him in 2024.

The judgment, which is publicly available on an official national database, shows that the County Court Online service made the finding against the Reform UK leader almost two years ago.

The basic facts of the ruling do not include who made the claim, how it came about or whether Farage ever contested it.

Reform UK has said Nigel Farage will appeal the judgment because he had not been aware of the claim...

A spokesman for Reform UK said that Farage had instructed lawyers to apply to the court to have the judgment set aside - the formal process of seeking to have it torn up.

"It's now being appealed and we will win," said the spokesman.

The spokesman added Farage periodically receives "nuisance claims of this nature, frequently for relatively modest sums falling within the small claims track and often lacking substantive merit"....

Ten thousand pounds is a "nuisance" claim?? Seems like a fair lump to me! Who is bankrolling him?

Also, being "unaware" of such court actions is an outright lie. You get served with notice in person. And if by mail, surely his "secretary" or lawyer or handler or fixer or whatever would have told him something!

I just got in trouble on LBC radio for daring to suggest the UK is now losing its best and brightest and they are being replaced by goat herders from Afghanistan.

Sorry. I should have said drug-dealing goat herders

This goes perfectly alongside the increasing popularity of Reform. One leads to the other...

It's also well beyond the Small Claims jurisdiction.

At this rate they are going to lose control of the council.

A Reform UK Cornwall councillor has left the party, just a month after two other councillors.

Jamie Hanlon, who was elected last May to represent the Penwithick and Boscoppa division in the St Austell area, will now sit on the council as a Stand Alone Independent...

Hanlon's resignation means the Reform UK group, which was elected with 28 members in May 2025 is now down to 21, a loss of a quarter of its elected councillors.
