Ed Israel/US Attacks Iran /Yet Another Country/Iran

Gosh, I'm building a flagpole so I can put a US flag on it and thank the Dear Lord for our benefactor and saviour America each morning at dawn.

All those wars it started have kept us safe for so long.

Where poor old NZ would be is anyone's guess had not America won those wars in Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan and Iran.

Oh, wait...

It becomes easier to see how people support Trump when they see through the lens of America being God's Chosen Land.

USA, USA, USA!
The American right has a very bloated and distorted concept of their importance in the world. Take away their ability to bully and they really have nothing left.

Dear @realDonaldTrump and @PeteHegseth

I have a confession.

I used to believe that our WWII heroes were our “Greatest Generation.” And I believe that’s still true. But, …

But, what our military is accomplishing, right now, in the Persian Gulf, across all our services, is truly magnificent and worthy of our utmost praise and respect. The teamwork, the precision, the drive to survive from a downed airman, the integrity, the overwhelming power is historically unparalleled.

This military man’s heart is full and my appreciation for the many and various ways our military excels leaves me with immense professional martial pride.

We have a generation currently serving under tremendous domestic political pressures, none of which they deserve or precipitated. They survived 4 years of indifference and ridiculous social interference and meddling, and they persevered.

They survived to become the world’s greatest and most morally-grounded military force since our Creation.

Thank you from America and America’s Vets.

Respectfully,

Buzz Patterson
Lt Col, USAF (Retired)

What perks do you think the US is paying for?
Largely military protection for pretty much all of Europe. An awful lot of tech innovation that the US subsidizes and develops. The majority of drug innovations where the US funds development and initial production, and US citizens end up subsidizing the low prices that the rest of the world gets.

hahaha what Bollocks

There weren't problems with freedom of navigation in the strahs of Hormuz before the US attacked Iran.
Have you forgotten the 1980s?

Do you think Hormuz is the only place where freedom of navigation has been threatened?

You really don't understand how the world works.

It seems to me that a lot of foreign policy towards Iran over the years has been premised on not goading them into closing the Strait.

I suspect Europe would be less invested in helping Iran, if it weren't on a major trade corridor.

Indeed, that has been the source of considerable concessions to them. The idea of actually removing their ability to do so is incomprehensible to Europe.

Europe is also terrified of their own imported Islamic radicals. Starmer won't even designate the IRGC as a terrorist organization. Even France is willing to do that much.

@Ziggurat has set out to convince us that MAGA geography is as bad as MAGA math.
You live on a tiny, remote island,
@Roger Ramjets gives his location as Hastings, New Zealand, which is on the North Island. Wikipedia lists that North Island as the 14th largest island in the world, larger than Newfoundland, Cuba, Iceland, or Ireland. The combined area of North Island and South Island (which are less than 15 miles apart) is greater than all but six of the world's islands, ahead of Victoria Island and Great Britain.

Or, alternatively, the EU has learned that any attempt to influence the Middle East by using force to attempt to make the governments there pliant has always spectacularly backfired and created a less safe world.

And while your rehashing of alt--right AI slop about hordes of Islamic radicals holding the EU hostage is as ludicrous as it is wrong, if it *were* the case, the EU should even more actively oppose the US, as each US attack on the Middle East has led to new waves of refugees. Refugees that sure are not going to the US.
Of course, if Trump asks, I'm sure we'd be willing to transport all the refugees from your wars to the US. Maybe you could start a petition?

And if 60% of the American people or Europe doesn't support us, we should let Iran build a nuclear bomb.

Thanks. I didn't know that.
1) Strawman argument; there are clear alternatives to blowing up every bridge, every power station schools, hospitals to prevent Iran getting a nuclear weapon. Alternatives that Trump destroyed. In doing so is likely to cause a worldwide economic depression leaving the west weakened.
2) Lots of countries have nuclear weapons, why shouldn't Iran have one?

Largely military protection for pretty much all of Europe.

Tell that to Ukraine. And Czechoslovakia.

An awful lot of tech innovation that the US subsidizes and develops. The majority of drug innovations where the US funds development and initial production, and US citizens end up subsidizing the low prices that the rest of the world gets.

There was some truth to that, right up until a science denying President was elected who promptly appointed other science deniers to every key position. On the plus side European countries, whose own scientific and technological efforts weren't as shabby as you're implying, will benefit from the consequent brain drain. It will take the US decades to recover from the damage Trump is doing.
