General UK politics VIII - The Last Tory

If there are no consequences, laws mean nothing.

People follow the rules when they know they’ll be enforced.

Why doesn’t Starmer get that?

We have a funded plan for 10,000 more police officers.

It’s time to take back our streets

And Kemi's cops will have nice new brown shirts.

Why didn't Johnson et all get that? Oh they did that's why they had illegal meetings during Covid lock downs.

Perhaps they could start by enforcing the law that you broke when you hacked Harriet Harmon's website, Kemi?

And again, there's no point having more police if the court systems are backlogged years.

I'm sure they also have a plan to open 40 new courts, 40 new prisons and buy new wigs to undo the damage done by whatever idiots made massive cuts in the justice system...

ETA: And no point in being "tougher on crime" i.e. having longer sentences if there is nowhere to jail the guilty.

The increase in our prison population is again a result of the Tories - this time going right the way back to Thatcher, when they decided to create an underclass for ideological reasons and then implemented "care in the community" again for ideological reasons we've ended up with a section of society that is detached from the mainstream and we have no way to treat the terrible multi-generational mental health issues created by the Tory ideology.

The former Labour minister who wrote Keir Starmer’s Strategic Defence Review has accused the PM of “corrosive complacency” and said “we cannot defend Britain with an ever-expanding welfare budget”.

I completely agree. It was exactly what I told Starmer in Parliament yesterday and said in my speech to Defence experts at the weekend. We need to get serious.

The Conservatives would restore the two child benefit cap and repurpose funds from net zero projects to invest in our military. Meanwhile the government have NO plan and, as Lord Robertson points out, Rachel Reeves had only 40 words on defence in her Budget and none in the Spring Statement.

You can’t trust Labour on defence

Why is Labour obsessed with letting Brussels make our laws?

No one tells the Canadian Parliament its laws should be made by the US Congress just because they do a lot of trade.

Britain needs lower taxes, cheaper energy, and a pro business government, not rule taking from the low-growth EU.

Letting Brussels make our rules would mean giving up on our AI advantage, giving up on precision breeding to create cheaper and safer foods, and giving up on growth.

Was it some kind of brain injury that caused her amnesia of more than fourteen years of Tory cuts?

Why does the UK government say there is a world price for oil and gas and we have to pay it? US petrol is £3 a US gallon when ours is double that. That’s rip off UK government taxes and import costs. Wholesale gas in the US is just 26 cents a therm, well below our price.

Shame he's never been in any position of power in which he might have influenced this decades long situation, isn't it?

Kemi Badenoch has suspended one of her Conservative candidates in the upcoming local elections.

William Jackson, who is listed as standing for the party in North Harrow in London, repeatedly posted messages to non-white British MPs of Asian origin, demanding that they leave the country, or be deported.

The messages, which were sent in reply to posts on Elon Musk’s X platform, include:

Multiple posts telling Apsana Begum MP, who was born in London, to “go back to Bangladesh”

Posts telling Lancashire born Adnan Hussain MP that “we need to bully you back to Pakistan”

Posts telling Zarah Sultana, who was born in Birmingham, to “go back to Pakistan” and calls for her to be deported

A post telling the Bedfordshire-born Labour MP Jeevun Sandher that he is not British

A post telling the Bradford-born Labour MP Imran Hussain that he is also not British.

Posts suggesting that the British boxer Anthony Joshua and the singer songwriter Dua Lipa are not British.

A reply to a post appearing to show a black woman committing a crime, with the response “windrush working out well then”

Why would she do that? He sounds like the perfect Tory candidate for her! Or Reform/Restart/Restore/Resurface whatever.
