Ed Israel/US Attacks Iran /Yet Another Country/Iran

Which is why war should be a last resort instead of something you do non-stop somewhere in the world.
What else is there left to try, with Iran? We've already tried cooperation, appeasement, diplomacy, sanctions, etc.

"Last resort" doesn't mean "you always have to try the same failed strategies again first, just in case they work this time".

The message of this administration seems to be that the time for retrying the failed second-to-last resorts is over, and the time for last resorts is now.

It's probably no coincidence that North Korea is keeping quiet right at the moment.

A critical part of the US force in the Gulf, especially since the loss of at least one AWACS, is the Navy MQ-4C Triton reconnaissance drone - a massive long distance machine with a wingspan bigger than a 737 and a pricetag of $200 million each.

Oh, and we just lost one.

As theprestige noted, the MQ-4C is not an AWACS. It does not fulfill the same role as an AWACS.

You can find more details about the actual incident here:
The vehicle encountered problems at 52,000 ft over the coast of Saudi Arabia, more than 100 miles away from Iran. Iran doesn't have a lot of remaining air defense assets that can hit anything that high and that far away. So there's a very good chance that this wasn't enemy fire, but simply mechanical failure. Which can happen at any time, war or not.

The irony that Republican President Eisenhower was the bloke who warned of the danger of the military-industrial is pretty cool though.
I've never met anyone who has actually read his entire speech. Nobody seems to know what else he warned of, least of all Democrats trying to use it against Republicans.

i agree they dropped the ball in waiting so long to bring a case and allowed for all the delays to the point where trump was reelected and dropped the case against himself. but ultimately there were enough americans that were willing to overlook it all and vote for him again to put him in a position to do that. the case wasn’t dropped on the merits of free speech
First off, Merrick Garland was incompetent, and a coward. Second, the January 6th Committee was a circus side-show. We'll never get true justice from those clowns, which is why so many Americans opted for Trump over a party clearly run by nitwits. Obviously Trump is a disaster, and this Iran thing's lone benefit has been the implosion of MAGA. But the democrats are -as usual - taking far too much for granted. They use Trump as a fund-raising tool, and do nothing to stop his assault on the republic.

Again, there is a right way and a wrong way to do things. There are street gangs in my area, and I'd love to see them all rounded up. But I want the constitution followed, not masked thugs busting skulls.

Make your mind up!

Trump: The strait will open up automatically. Otherwise they make no money. We will open the strait anyway. Don't forget, we don't use the strait. Other countries use the strait.

Trump: We’re going to open up the gulf—with or without them—or the strait as they call it. It’s going to go pretty quickly and if it doesn’t, we’ll be able to finish it off. One way or the other, it’s going well.

Not being a Democrat I wouldn't have clue about how they use it.

It's just an amusing fact to me.

Why was the JCPOA a failed strategy?
