Ed Israel/US Attacks Iran /Yet Another Country/Iran

Also, tell that to all the Afghan allies we promised to take with us and abandoned
You mean the guys we armed and trained for 20 years, and then folded in less than a week to a lesser force (on paper)? Those Afghans? Hell, the South Vietnamese lasted three years before the NVA rolled into Saigon after we left. We're still hanging with the Kurds.

If we valued the troops, we wouldn't force them to sleep for months on the floor of a ship with no working toilets
So... US Army much?

Another narrative is emerging, which is more in line with the location of the crashed F15E and the resources being deployed in the rescue:

the plane, helicopters and transport planes, as well as the A10 might have been part of an operation to get enriched Uranium out of Iran's Isfahan Facility, but had to be converted into a rescue operation when success seemed unlikely and pilots needed to be extracted.

I find this credible in light of Trump promising something Big, but it might take months or years for us to learn everything there is to know about this operation.
The uncharacteristic amount of information being released in praise of the rescue is very typical of cover-up big oversupply of misleading information.
Not credible.

The Iranians would be all over this with videos. There are plenty of videos they released of Iranians shooting at MH-60s searching for the pilot. Even if this is close to a nuclear facility, the fact is the F-15E is BOMBER, and it's not much of a stretch to guess what their target might have been. The 130s may have been part of a mission package targeting the facility, but quickly commandeered for the rescue. Maybe not. C-130s are a dime a dozen.

At least 45 commercial ships have crossed the Strait of Hormuz since Friday, the latest tracking data from maritime intelligence firm Kpler shows.

Separate analysis from maritime intelligence company Windward indicates more ships are travelling on the southern side of the strait, closer to Oman’s coastline.

Windward notes “multiple” vessels used this route between 2 and 5 April, including three Omani-operated ships.

way too little, way, way, Waaaay too late.
Yeah, this is the same Alex Jones who has supported him for ten years, and supported Musk as well despite them essentially doing everything they had claimed the New World Order was doing. Jones excitedly counted down the days until Trump came back into office, then promptly forgot he was ever interested in the Epstein files when Trump began denouncing people for bringing it up. He was fine with ICE and Venezuela and the tariffs, and all the lawfare, etc…

He presumably sees that he has to jump one way or another as his audience splits.

So which country in the world has the highest number of Afghan refugees?* Which country has the largest refugee population?** Presumably such a country isn't going to be an extremist oppresive regime.

*Iran houses the largest number of Afghan refugees approximately 3,000,000 most of them 'undocumented'. One can expect them to be moving elsewhere if Iran is 'sent back to the stone age'.
** Iran.

Why would you presume that? That's rather naive.

Q: Legal scholars have raised questions about bombing a nation's civilian infrastructure as possible war crimes. What is DOJ's analysis?

TODD BLANCHE: We support the Department of War.

I wonder why these scholars never questioned Ukraine's attacks against Russian civilian infrastructure.

And note, in case it's not obvious, that I fully support Ukraine attacking Russian civilian infrastructure. Because civilian infrastructure benefits the military. Infrastructure is a valid target in war.

I expect he will probably order a wave of infrastructure attacks. I do not have high confidence in this assessment, though, because there are factors involved that the public is not privy to which could change that.

I do have high confidence that he will not order a nuclear strike. I do have high confidence that he will not do something that I would describe as destroying a civilization.

What about you?

That you can't rule out the war-criming psycho you voted for committing nuclear holocaust is already pretty wild, but the smug dismissiveness with which you treat this whole situation is a whole other level of sociopathy.

I can't wait until MAGA is swept into the dustbin of history. They are a cancer.

It's wild to see progressives sounding more and more like Tucker Carlson.

Calling a threat to annihilate an entire civilization, to murder a group of people as "bloviating" is a special kind of apologetics.

You don't see a difference between what Ukraine is doing and what Donald wants to do?

In this situation Iran is Ukraine

You don't see a difference between what Ukraine is doing and what Donald wants to do?
What exactly do you think Trump wants to do?
In this situation Iran is Ukraine
I presume you mean by this that the attack on Iran is not justified.

But that's a different question, and one I'm not especially interested in debating because I don't expect that debate to be useful. An unjustified war is unjustified regardless of what targets you choose. But targeting infrastructure is a normal part of war.

No, I mean the workers, helpers and translators who make life for the US troops possible, at great risk of retaliation by the Taliban. The US explicitly promised them safe passage and right to stay in the US should the troops leave Afghanistan.
Needless to say, almost all were abandoned, and many of them and their families were tortured or killed for helping America.

The Kurds were promised part of Iraq by both Bushs in return for fighting for us, and again for fighting against ISIS.
Then Trump helped Turkey bomb the ◊◊◊◊ out of them.

the US is in habit of betraying its allies, as Trump is doing with Ukraine and Europe and the Gulf States.

You have to be truly desperate to trust the US for anything.

No matter what happens tonight or in the coming days, the United States will not be the first country to engage in genocide. We might, however, be the first in modern times to tell the world that genocide is our intention before we really get started.

I don't know what the demented old goat might get up to. The cowards on his cabinet don't seem to have the backbone to stop him. He threatened to wipe out a civilization and the psycho doesn't get any brownie points if he only uses "conventional" weapons to do it.
But don't we get brownie points for announcing our genocidal intentions ahead of time?

it is already the lowest point in US history that a President is calling for the End of a Civilization- this has never happened before.
True. Not that US presidents have never done evil things, but they usually try to hide, deny, or excuse their evil intentions.

President Trump is boasting of his evil intentions. Leaving it to his mindlessly adoring cultists to say he won't follow through, that we should take him neither literally nor seriously.
