General UK politics VIII - The Last Tory

Congressman Brendan Boyle
@RepBrendanBoyle
Why in this day and age are there British landowners in Ireland?!?!?! And what can we do to end this atrocity once and for all?

Plenty of politicians now saying a lot of words about protecting churches.

One donated a month’s MP salary to repairing a local church in his constituency - thousands out of his own pocket. Just one.

Rupert Lowe.

Actions speak a lot louder than words

Oh great, now there's a far right "Raise the Crosses" campaign putting tacky little purple crucifixes on lamp posts and traffic lights. The group behind it is linked to UKIP and Turning Point UK and supports mass deportations. And of course, they have a crowdfunding grift for it.
Calvin Robinson is of course involved.

Because Ireland doesn't put restrictions on British people (or people from many other nations) buying land off previous owners, aside from the standard ones like the money used being legal tender, or not the proceeds of crime, or their being some sort of prohibition on selling the land in the first place. I'm sure there's a few more rules , but they'll apply to every property transaction.

Yeah, right Rupert. And I'm the Queen of Sheba.

The window to avert a massive global hunger crisis is rapidly closing. Must-read from the @guardian on the food security timebomb that will go off if fertiliser cannot pass through the Strait of Hormuz:

The UK used to make its own fertiliser.
What outlawed that.
You did.
Your brother Ed continues net zero lunacy
And now you present it as a problem to wring your hands about with no apology for your actions.
Typical disgraceful Labour mentality

The christianisation* of Britain was mostly an Irish affair.

*Well rechristianisation, the Romano-Brits were mostly christian by the time the legions left.
Of course the christianisation of Ireland was a British affair first, it is always fun to remind the Irish that St Patrick came from England (not that England existed as a country then any more than Ireland did).

When was putting up crosses everywhere (covered in a bunch of symbols most of which I don't recognise) ever an Easter tradition in Britain? This seems like some kind of foreign cultural import, trying to destroy our great traditions of eating chocolate eggs for reasons nobody remembers and maybe going to church if you're a Christian of the keen sort or get guilted into it. Send them back, I say.

Don't tell a gammon that St George was Greek.

This is what seems to have upset the American Congressman Brendan Boyle.

It seems the Duke of Devonshire wants to charge an annual rent of €50 a hectare up from €5 a hectare. Looks bad but the average agricultural rent in Ireland is €700 a hectare.

If Le Pen wins, the EU’s days are numbered.

No wonder they want the friendly idiot Starmer to use British taxpayer money to fill the gap.

Prince William has lost John.

John Cleese
@JohnCleese
Could someone ask him to read the Koran

For example the bits about killing 'infidels', and child marriage. and sexual slavery, and Female Genital
Mutilation, and how husbands may beat wives, and worst of all, how dogs should be banned

This not standard C of E stuff, is it ?

Or even the bit about imposing Islam on the entire country, which might be irony, but I don't think so

A lot of British people don't really want any of this, and the problem is that the Koran forbids compromise

Not even the Scottish Presbyterians are as assertive as this

QUOTE

Basil the Great
@BasilTheGreat
Prince William says Islam is the religion of peace

The Royal Family has completely lost all sense of defending Christianity and the British people

Is it time for a shake up of this institution?

This makes me think of a colleage who occasionally shares far right garbage on Facebook. The last item I quickly scrolled past warned that we were blundering into re-enacting the Iranian revolution right here in the UK.

Well, maybe. As I recall they turned against the monarchy and overthrew it, then overthrew its government too and gave over ruling the country to a bunch of religious fanatics.

Maybe he was onto something.
