Despite the fact that 50 Republicans are keeping Trump possible and he has declared himself king, Democrats are blamed:
Their most common reasons for disliking Democrats are viewing them as do-nothing (22% say this), saying they’re not standing up enough to Trump and the GOP (11%) or they’re too liberal (10%). Another 9% call them weak or spineless, with another 9% saying the party doesn’t care about people.

So they are to stand up to Trump but not be liberal. Doing liberal things like democracy and abortion. And that vaccination.

I've run across a great deal of people that just are not interested in politics. They have some general ideas about politics, and what they get from media they try to fit to their old ideas.
My guess about their standing is that they are not in the center. Nobody is. A few people have problems since their views on specific topics end up left and right.

My conclusion is that these casual voters are just left or just right of center. The just left group fails to vote democrat because there are few issues they can agree on with democrats. So they don't vote.

That's some carefully crafted poll, separating "doing nothing" from "not doing enough" from "weak and spineless," all of which are broadly the same criticism. Almost as if the author was more focused on bothsidesing further division than producing any useful observations.

Given the insights offered by some posters here, I'm amazed that the overwhelming favorite wasn't "too mean to Republicans". If anything, it sounds like folks feel that they aren't mean enough.

Good to see you acknowledge the weakness. Here's an article you should enjoy--it says that since moderate Democrats mostly go along with the progressives, there's no need to change positions on any of the thorny issues of our time.

My take is that he got it right in the headline:

Take a subset of Democrats who regularly vote in the primaries, ask them to describe themselves, and then act surprised when those who describe themselves as moderate or moderate-to-liberal turn out to be pretty liberal.
It's particularly startling when you watch Democrats speak from 30 years ago. Crazy how these days the same party calling support of immigration enforcement makeling you a bigot while on the other side of the mouth they're asking who will pick our cotton if we deport illegals..l as if its better to let them in to do labor for trash wages. 30 years ago they were for enforcing those laws.

Also the fact that people have a difficult time answering what is male vs female... wasn't a very difficult question 20 years ago...

Edit: I should qualify this to mean far left progressivism rather than "Democrat", but the party leadership folds more to the progressive base so...

What changes and what doesn't might vary. I am pretty sure, for example, that thirty years ago the Republican Party would not have considered nominating a rapist and convicted felon. Things do change. The good old days were not all that good for everyone. Sometimes we learn, sometimes we don't. Sometimes we remember and sometimes we don't.

When someone says they’re startled by how Democrats have changed (even if it’s based on fiction) but seems comfortable with the current iteration of Republicans, it’s a tacit acknowledgment that they know Republicans always were this horrible.

Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Biden, Chuck Schumer, Obama and all once spoke about immigration the same way contemporary conservatives argue about it. If you're referring to that as "fiction" then you're argument is either denial, or trolling, which is very.... CT-like. I really can't justify putting in the effort because you have a long history of arguing like this. The videos are out there and super easy to find if you're ever interested. But if you insist on the status quo, have at it.

nominating a rapist
About as proven as arguments like Silverstein's "pull it" remark, which is pertinent because the quality and documentation you base your remark off of in a political discussion is about as equally flimsy as the 9/11 truth claims I used to spend time debunking in the other section.

I agree. 20 years ago I could have a fairly good debate with people I disagreed with. People actually made effort to explain their view points and i could accept when people had rationalized explanations even if I didnt agree with them. Back then, being called a bootlicker and racist was not the automatic kneejerk response that it is today. The standards these days just aren't the same as they used to be.

The fiction is the implication that Democrats are against immigration enforcement. What Democrats - and the overwhelming majority of Americans - are against is a fascist paramilitary force of masked thugs terrorizing communities under the guise of "immigration enforcement".

"Fiction" was actually being too kind. It's actually just a plain lie. You made an argument based on a lie.

Judge says E Jean Carroll allegation Trump raped her is ‘substantially true’ in court dismissal

I keep getting called out on my lies and now I have the sads!

Yeah... blocks on detainers on illegal immigrants arrested for crimes, releasing them back to the public, and allowing unmitigated crossings for several years is definitely one way to signal that they "enforce" the immigration laws. Sanctuary City policies to hinder enforcement... You totally got me there.

I did, actually. And your response was to tell more lies.

Also noting you gave no pushback on my description of the current state of “immigration enforcement” under Republicans, presumably because you a) know it’s true and b) are fine with it.

the clintons, schumer, obama and biden used to talk about immigration
They actually did make points about "undocumented" immigrants needing to go through the proper channels as well as undergoing the legal process to get naturalized, and not having them subsidized by tax payers on welfare programs meant for US citizens. I could go on about them arguing in support controling the border to mitigate mass illegal crossings. Which members have been exceptionally critical of in recent years even before the ICE enforcement became a consideration. While the immigration issue has never actually been addressed, you and Karate seem adamant to avoid that they argued these things even if what they said was just a continuation of political platitudes.

Karate was arguing earlier that the party isn't opposed to it in concept. Just against the ICE enforcement policies. But the actions of states like New York and California doing the opposite of pushing naturalization the legal way. Not to mention the lack of border control during biden's term... all of that contradicts what he was arguing. This was one of the issues the impacted the elections in case you both forgot.

Once, again you tell lies about Democratic policies on immigration enforcement.

But speaking of elections, we have a pretty big one coming up and immigration enforcement will be an important factor.

Now that we’re living in the Republican wet dream of immigration enforcement it must be wildly popular and Republicans will be rewarded at the ballot box, right?

you compared that to contemporary conservatives, then cut that part out of the quote and avoided bringing any of them up

I imagine a lot of things are scary to right-wingers. The world is big and full of not white people.
Crazy how these days the same party calling support of immigration enforcement makeling you a bigot
The people you are simping for referring to undocumented workers as dirty, disease ridden animals and criminals doesn't really help your case.
while on the other side of the mouth they're asking who will pick our cotton if we deport illegals.
That's pointing out the role in our economy undocumented works hold. There's a very important, nuanced, and uncomfortable discussion to be had about how our lifestyle as Americans affects others, but people posting drunk uncle facebook rants aren't part of that discussion.
.l as if its better to let them in to do labor for trash wages.
No, that sucks. That's why a log of Democrats, not just progressives, are advocating for laws protecting undocumented immigrants from such abuses.
30 years ago they were for enforcing those laws.
Mostly still are. Its the Gestapo ◊◊◊◊ like gunning down people in the streets for not being properly afraid of a wife beater with a mask and gun that we object to.
Also the fact that people have a difficult time answering what is male vs female... wasn't a very difficult question 20 years ago...
Always the one joke.

Your Edit should just consist of the backspace key.

You want to see a radical change? Go look up what Reagan and Bush were saying about undocumented immigrants during the 1980 primary. They sounded more like AOC than the the current pedophiles you're simping for.

Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Biden, Chuck Schumer, Obama and all once spoke about immigration the same way contemporary conservatives argue about it.
Show me where they referred to all undocumented immigrants as rapists and murderers and drug dealers. Show me where they went on syphilitic brain riddled rants about eating cats and dogs.
If you're referring to that as "fiction" then you're argument is either denial, or trolling, which is very.... CT-like.
And you're arguing while suffering from Deranged Trumper Syndrome
I really can't justify putting in the effort because you have a long history of arguing like this. The videos are out there and super easy to find if you're ever interested. But if you insist on the status quo, have at it.
So, "trust me bro" from a pedophile simp

Your weak orange daddy's own words about enjoying sexually assaulting women and girls. A judge finding him liable for sexual assault. Dozens of credible accounts.
I agree. 20 years ago I could have a fairly good debate with people I disagreed with.
But then you got DTS
People actually made effort to explain their view points and i could accept when people had rationalized explanations even if I didnt agree with them.
But then yo urealize reality had a left-wing bias, so you decided reality was wrong.
Back then, being called a bootlicker and racist was not the automatic kneejerk response that it is today.
Again, if you don't like being called something, stop being that thing.
The standards these days just aren't the same as they used to be.
I'm looking at self declared patriots and Christians simping for the addled brained pedophile in the White House and couldn't agree more.

Yeah... blocks on detainers on illegal immigrants arrested for crimes,
You mean holding the accused for due process?
releasing them back to the public,
Nonviolent offenders? Ya, that's generally how it should work.
and allowing unmitigated crossings for several years
In no universe did this happen
is definitely one way to signal that they "enforce" the immigration laws. Sanctuary City policies to hinder enforcement... You totally got me there.
Not a fan of the Constitution? Don't believe in "small government"? Because sanctuary cities are a legal concept going back at least 100 years. It was upheld when local municipalities asserted that that didn't have to help the feds enforce prohibition. Or when several states successfully sued the Obama administration for holding back federal funding as retaliation for not expanding Medicaid or complying with certain other provisions of the ACA.
