Trump said that DODGE and the Tariffs have brought in trillions, not only removing the Deficit but probably all of US debt plus enough for a fat cheque for every American.
Trump says a lot of things, and I estimate about 70% of it is bombastic self-aggrandizing BS. Another 25% is jokes in poor taste, but still clearly intended as humor - they seem to really enjoy trolling democrats. So... maybe 5% is actually meaningful statements that should be given consideration rather then just being brushed off like the ramblings of a drunken relative at a family gathering where the in-laws don't get along at all.

Says a lot about his voters and supporters

Not really. No more than it says a lot about your mom if they just brush off your drunken uncle at thanksgiving.

Both sides tolerate BS from their politicians. Dem voters and supporters routinely retranslate statements made by politicians as "that's not what they really meant" and "clear from context that it was humor" and similar. If you're willing to grant nuance and grace to Dem politicians when they make inappropriate statements, you should grant the same to Rep politicians. People on either side of the aisle say some absolutely crazy crap - I think it's perfectly reasonable for ALL OF US to brush off the silly ◊◊◊◊ regardless of which party they're with.

How very reassuring, how decidedly presidential, and how appropriate for the "leader of the free world".

Can’t believe we’re still hearing this “both sides” crap as if they equal and thus cancel each other out.

And it should be noted that the totally-not-a-Trump-supporter poster currently engaged in this has by their own recking determined that 95% of what Trump says as President of the United States cannot be believed or taken seriously.

This is just fine with them and also the exact same thing as when some random Democrat says something stupid (no examples provided).

What democrats could do right is recognise the ICC. It wouldn't matter that Trump pardons everyone, and he has immunity, because that only applies in the US. Indeed the inability of national judiciaries to bring to justice their own war criminals is why the ICC was created.

The US signs up to the ICC and ships Trump and crew off to the Hague.

I'd ask for an example of anything close to what Trump has said or done, but I think that's expecting too much of you.

That's more for preventing a future Trump. Doing it retroactively for this idiot will cause shootouts.

Sorry, but that sounds like desperate rationalizing.
No family would put that drunken uncle in charge of all the money and the nuclear football.
Trump is the nominated and elected head of the Republican Party - everything he says and does is with the consent of the Party, as they have the option to side with the opposition to impeach him.

Nice try to distance yourself, but it's not going to work: Trump IS the GOP until the GOP actively gets rid of him.

Good ole drunk uncle Frank, grabbing women by the pussy, accused of assault by a couple of dozen women, adjudicated guilty of same by a jury, yeah he's in the family room with a bottle of Wild Turkey 101, a revolver and a half dozen of his young nieces and nephews.

Seems sane.

I'm sure a few people in your audience have at least one uncle like that, one who probably won't be invited back after he gets out of jail.

However, comparing our President to said uncle is hardly the reassuring thought you seem to think it is; nor is that comparison likely to make your audience think more highly of the people who voted for someone like that multiple times.

TL;DR Weird flex.
