He seems to have all kinds of weird beliefs about trade being a zero-sum game, and that the US should establish some kind of autarky whereby they are not beholden to foreign countries for anything and that all industry can be done in the US.

But of course everyone, including the US, is plugged into the global economy. It's also so weird that someone who is so damaging to free trade is being championed by so many right-wing conservatives.

If we’ve reached a point where the NATO alliance means that we can’t use those bases to defend our interests, then it’s a one-way street.
