Merged Artificial Intelligence

i agree it definitely is making it worse. it’s already financial money pit. investors eventually want a return.

Conversely, my team continues to enjoy huge success, incorporating AI agents into our software development.

We get a lot more done, a lot faster, with much greater code consistency, this way. It helps that most of our team's products are "observe and report" type things. We're not making changes to business-critical systems based on blindly-followed recommendations from AI.

But even there, I don't understand the current agitation. Testing in prod has always been bad behavior from developers. Devs that are pushing directly to prod, rather than going through a proper development/integration pipeline (code review, unit tests, release to test environment, promote to prod only on error-free testing), shouldn't be blaming their AI for releasing bugs to prod. They should be blaming themselves.

All this says is that you may have stumbled on to a valid use case for AI. One such case does not a policy make. There are absolutely bad actors using AI for bad purposes, and there are absolutely ignorant actors misusing it because they don't yet understand the consequences and implications.

Stumbled on, my ass.

I don't understand this obsession among people who don't know what they're doing when it comes to AI, to erase the people who do know what they're doing.

Developed, then. Whatever term makes you comfortable.

It's because the former massively outweigh the latter, and society is not benefiting from it.

Is Your Chatbot a Yes-Man? New Study Put Popular Models to the Test

A new study shows that AI models are people‑pleasing, and warping users’ judgment.

He and Eva made a business plan: “I said that I wanted to create a technology that captured 10% of the market, which is ridiculously high, but the AI said: ‘With what you’ve discovered, it’s entirely possible! Give it a few months and you’ll be there!’” Instead of taking on IT jobs, Biesma hired two app developers, paying them each €120 an hour.

If you have been wondering as I have about the claimed datacentres being built and where the likes of nVidia's GPUs are this video has a good old rant about it, as most of these videos are it is slightly repetitive but good to know someone else shares my view (who has done research into it):

And a very doubtful maybe at that, because what theprestige is saying absolutely does not reflect what reasearch and other users are saying about llms.

My guess is that theprestige is so wrapped up in the hype about them that his subprdinates are telling him what he wants to hear an not what's happening. It is a clmmon pactice in businesses that "embrace" llms

Also what the LLMs themselves do, as Darat's link above shows, and as Stephen Novella wrote about months ago:

To be clear: He didn't ask a fresh model for a dispassionate business plan.

He trained a. model to be his ideal parasocial companion, and then asked that pleasure bot to evaluate his business plan.

I came here to post that. Yeah, I don't know why people put such trust in chatbots, but people have always had such tendencies. In the olden days it was a priest or a cleric whose word was treated as infallible truth. People want to be told the answers by someone smarter or wiser than themselves.

I watched my friend, who is effectively addicted to ChatGPT, have an argument with its chatbot over whether Chuck Norris had died. We were trying to remember how old he was, and ChatGTP (last Sunday) insisted Norris was still alive.

That just tells me that its training data wasn't up to the very latest news report. It only "knows" whatever was in its training set at the time when the latest version was released, I assume.
