How does it work these days? As far as I remember the universities used to really like foreign students because they could charge them much more than indigenous students, and the fees were paid by the foreign governments, or the parents, or whatever. Not by the UK.

But they are brown! And forrin! So how can they be equals?

Well yes because they would have gotten into a fight with the police, smashed up every pub in a five mile radius and attacked any brown person unlucky enough to come across them.

Oddly, we were discussing history curriculums last night, all the bollocks about royals and battles we were taught and contrasting that with things we have read over recent years: EP Thompson's Making of the English Working Class; Neeson's excellent study of the Enclosures; Chase's history of Chartism; loads of accounts of the Clearances; histories of the potato famine in Ireland and Scotland; Carradine's Decline and Fall...; a bunch of things about land ownership, from The Poor Had No Lawyers on; Dalrymple's The Anarchy...and...and...

How much of this would be in a "patriotic curriculum"? What would be taught about the history of normal folk and struggles for rights?

I mean, I first learned about the Irish Famine in biology when learning about Phytophthera infestans, NOT in any history lesson.
