Trump's Second Term

I'm trying to figure out why Trump has taken such a shine to Orban. I mean, aside from all the usual "they're both in love with Putin" stuff. How many other countries of similar stature and influence does he give a stuff about who leads them?

Nearest I can figure is he likes having a wrecker inside the EU weakening it, so he wants to keep him in-post if he can. On the upside, Trump's support for other countries election candidates has a less than stellar record of assisting them.

It's really simple with Trump. There is only one metric. You praise him, or you don't. So obviously he will support Orban.

Does The Economist report what Cubans say about Trump?!

You can find people willing to spread similar stories in all other countries. All you have to do is cherry-pick them meticulously, but it's much easier to just pay them to do it: Jørgen Boassen (Wikipedia)

How many leaders of nations of similar stature does Trump vocally endorse at election time? The endorsement in the video above is heavy on the anti-immigrant Great Replacement panic, but that's because he's blowing smoke up some CPAC meeting. I guess it helps that Orban is anti-woke anti-lib anti-immigrant, but my gut feeling is his real value is in wrecking EU unanimity on just about everything.

Because Orban has done what Trump seeks to do.
Subvert a (weak) democracy into an autocracy using made up fears of relatively small minorities that can then be persecuted to keep the attention of the public away from his massive corruption.
