The president lamented the death of three U.S. service members, the first Americans to die in the conflict, explaining there “likely will be more.”​

True. He cares a whole lot about the mid-terms though. Picking an unnecessary fight, getting Americans killed and blowing billions on military expenditure aren't obvious vote winners.

I'm not sure about that. From my experience, there is a large swath of americans that never feel prouder of their country then when they are at war.
