The behaviour of UK police officers.

The guy was a lying scumbag. The only surprise to me is that no-one fired his arse before he had the chance to resign.

But we see lying scumbaggery all the time, by officials in public office all of the time. As he is over 50 years old, he can jump ship and retire, before he can be fired, which is a slow process.

First of all you missed my sarcasm, but to the highlighted absolutely not the case - the Met has been riddled with the proverbial "one bad apple" i.e. corrupt and criminal officers for literally generations. It's why I have said it needs to be completely disbanded and a new police force created, the barrel is bad, putting good apples in just spoils the good apples.

We have documented corruption in the Met that goes back to the 19th century, in my lifetime we have had Operation Countryman, from the Wikipedia article :

As the investigation proceeded, it began to emerge that the corruption was not limited to "a few bad apples" within the forces but was "historically and currently endemic" and "widespread throughout the hierarchical command rather than confined to those below the rank of sergeant. 6"

Every single time anything like an independent inquiry or report looks into the Met it reveals the corruption from top to bottom. As I said in another thread:

And as stories, reports and inquiries keep showing the police forces remain unchanged, they have simply got better at PR and can shove appropriately trained media savvy "spokespersons" in front of the cameras. The chief constables have got skilled at mouthing the correct platitudes, of promising change, telling us lessons have been learned, that these are historical failings, that it is all different now.

The old saying 'If you want to know the time ask a policeman' comes from their habit of relieving drunks they arrested of pocket watches and other valuables. The song comes from the music halls of the late 19th century, but it was obviously a long enough established practice to make it funny then.

A worthwhile read about how female police officers are constantly being let down by their colleagues, when they are the victims of abuse by male police officers;

"Women on the force find that, despite reforms, allegations of male colleagues’ sexual offences are still not being pursued"

Of course they aren't - it's the... oh sorry not allowed to say institutional so let's call it organisational sexism (and most other -isms).

To state that he "mislead" Parliament is a gross understatement of his perfidy.

- He willfully lied about the information he got from the Dutch police regarding Maccabi Tel Aviv fans (and the Dutch police called him out on it).
- He willfully lied that the Maccabi fans were arming up for conflict when he KNEW that it was Muslims who were arming up to attack Maccabi fans.
- He claimed he never used AI in his "research".
- As it turns out, he used AI to create a fake football match (West Ham v Maccabi) and circumstances around it to paint Maccabi fans in a bad light. (those two teams have never played each other, ever).
- He repeatedly consulted with Islamic leaders over the issue, but didn't speak to a single member of the Jewish community.

The guy was a lying scumbag. The only surprise to me is that no-one fired his arse before he had the chance to resign.
I doubt the chief constable did any of this. He certainly has command responsibility. Do you really think he contacted Dutch police himself? Do you think he was the one to do research using AI?

Chief Constable Guildford told us he had no concern about the integrity of the Chief Inspector who spoke to the Dutch Police, or about “what he told me and what he documented from the Dutch police.”
Where do you get the claim that Maccabi fans were arming up for the conflict, it doesn't appear in the report?
He admitted that AI was used (not that the Chief constable would compile an intelligence report himself). The suggestion that the West Ham match was deliberately created appears untrue. AI hallucinations are well described and appears to be the explanation. Again the Chief constable would not speak to community leaders, this was the responsibility primarily of Bronze Commander (community), likely an officer at inspector level.

"We're recording you for our and your safety", is a line that always gets a wry smile from me. Particularly the, "your safety", bit when 17 people died in or following police custody 24/25. Now they're turning on their own.

With impunity, it seems.

It's nothing new. Look what they did to Shirley McKie.

X increasing is how senior the cop is and Y increasing is how popular they are. The line represents how likely they will survive being complained about. Shirley was a 1, 1, the worst place to be.
