But there were elections, for positions of limited power where the wrong people won (so the regime kept changing the rules) which is why I have thought for a long time that it's not a stable situation. As the people have (had) an officially recognised voice with no power. I kept wondering whether they would get power or lose their voice. It looked like the regime was going for the second.

I suspect the plan will be similar to Venezuela. A decapitation strike, followed by another round of negotiations with whoever is left in charge.

Your hatred for Israel blinds you. The IDF has developed extensive tactics specifically to reduce civilian casualties, such as roof knocks. You buy into Hamas and Iranian propaganda not because it’s true, but because it flatters your prejudices.

Islamists have been prosecuting a global holy war against Jews for decades. Iran has been one of the chief sponsors.

How insane, the pretense that this is Israel firing the first shot in a war that's been going on for almost a century.

No, they are not. Apparently, they don't see this as a Holy War of Muslims vs Jews. What do you know that they don't?
