Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been arrested...

So far this thread is notably lacking in any sort of praise for the prick. You see that changing, I do not.

In my view, more along the lines of "if you disparage his military accomplishments as not useful you are equally disparaging all military personnel with similar accomplishments as not useful". I don't care to see upstanding and accomplished military personnel disparaged in this manner.
Neither do I

Okay, that's fine. But it's been said. Can it be moved on from, or do we need to repeat it some more? There's a time and place for everything and perhaps, just perhaps, the thread about the pedo rapist's arrest isn't the time and place to explain how much we admire the military?

Yup.

The "but ackshually" has been happening for a while, scroll up. I'm suggesting that if it keeps going it's going to morph into hymns of praise.

Getting a lot of "but you can't overlook his contributions to pop music" with Michael Jackson vibes here.
What we ARE "ackshually" saying is there is enough bad stuff this disgusting creep has done in his life to be going on with out needing to over-egg the pudding by making up lies out of whole cloth.

....and "ackshually", making up lies is counterproductive - it takes away from the discussion of his actual vileness, and emboldens those who support the scumbag...

Yeah, got it. It's clear. So I was thinking maybe people could stop making that same point.

Is this enough "but ackshually" or do we need to segue into hymns of praise for the great hero and magnificent human being that is Andrew?
I'd be happy if we can just agree that making up lies is foolish when the truth already suffices. It seems like CFK is more concerned with preserving his mental image of the royals as useless wastes of flesh, than he is concerned with the actual sins and crimes Andrew has committed.

"Jeffrey Epstein was clearly an appalling and abusive man who used his wealth and power to target and exploit vulnerable young women and girls. And I don't think we further the cause of holding the associates of this man to account by promulgating things which are not true."

Just watched BBC world News in USA Lead story on Andrew Mountbatten and it could have been written by the Republican movement. Every negative story in the last 20 years re hashed and the underlying story was about how damaging it was to the Royal Family. The BBC showing its anti monarchist tendencies which we have to pay for with the licence fee

AM-W hasn't been convicted of any crime. If he had sex with Giuffre that wasn't a crime. (Giuffre certainly claimed relationships with men that she subsequently had to admit did not occur, she was a proven liar.) Misconduct in public office is hard to prove, and I predict he won't be charged with the offence. It is possible that a long and detailed investigation might discover financial irregularities that could be grounds for other charges.

He is clearly not unique in having interacted with Epstein, but that doesn't make him guilty of any crime. Even associating with a convicted criminal who has done his time is not a crime. AM-W is someone who I think I would not like, not very intelligent or cultured, self important and entitled. Being an unpleasant person isn't a crime.

He has been punished (not severely i grant) before conviction. The media and many here are essentially bullying, piling on. Mandelson was far more involved but seems to have escaped the bullying. It certainly appears he should be investigated by the police if AM-W is.

Since he's not, as far as we know, a member here, I don't think any of the comments about him can count as bullying. Even if he were, somehow, made aware of them, I still think that would be a mischaracterisation given the astounding levels of privilege he has enjoyed throughout his life, and the abuse of that privilege, whether criminal or not, that he has clearly made.

They just said it's a waste of money to remove him from being 8th in line to the throne. What on earth are the costs other than a biro to cross his name out on a list?
It's not like you've got to take his face off the stamps or fivers.

I'll even give them a pen.

Andrew is 8th in line to the throne. Just think: if Andrew was Macbeth he'd have to do away with 7 of them. And now I'm thinking of Fergie egging him on...

Hmmm. Interesting legal question I've just seen posted on Quora by a RandyAndy

""Hypothetically if someone 8th in the line to a throne murdered the others and became monarch could I they be prosecuted for the murders given the monarch cannot be prosecuted?"

Apparently it also needs to be ratified by the various countries where Chucky is head of state, and then be given Royal Assent. Fair enough, but is there seriously anywhere that's likely to object, which seemed to be the suggestion? Just do the paperwork, if it actually needs to be done.

I shot an arrow in the air; she fell to Earth in Berkeley Square...
