General UK politics VIII - The Last Tory

What's the silliness?

The UK approach to the use of terms like 'milk' and 'dairy' is in line with the EU.
Exactly. And the EU is banning the word 'milk' from products such as soy milk because some dairy producers think that it will raise their sales because apparently, people are buying soy milk in the mistaken belief it is produced by a cow. The meat industry is pressing for a ban of the term 'veggie burger' because some people may buy it instead of a real burger in the belief that there is meat in a veggie burger. I wonder if the UK is also following suit with the veggie burgers.

These bans are not enforced to protect consumers, but producers.
I'm glad of this one, these ultra processed liquids have tried to market themselves as somehow being a healthy food.
As far as I know there is nothing ultra-processed about soy milk (and I think the same goes for oat milk and almond milk).
My wife suffers from a number of allergies, and soy milk (nowadays marketed as 'Soy M*lk') is a stable ingredient in our diet because it can replace milk in most dishes.

About twice as many humans cannot tolerate significant amounts of lactose compared to those that can.

Plant-based milks can be more or less processed. I agree that the marketing is often misleading. For example:

We always try to keep the number of ingredients in our products to a minimum without compromising on taste, nutrition or performance (no one likes their milk splitting in their coffee). That’s why we have a dedicated Innovation, Science and Technology team who regularly review and improve our recipes. In Oatly Barista Edition, for example, you’ll simply find water, oats, a little rapeseed oil, very small amounts of salt, vitamins and minerals, and an acidity regulator called dipotassium phosphate. Dipotassium phosphate is a safe and approved additive which balances the pH level of coffee (which is quite acidic) and prevents our oat drinks from curdling when added to it. We don’t use emulsifiers, stabilisers, colours or flavours. Our Oatly Organic drinks, available in certain markets, have even fewer ingredients (if that’s important to you).

Uses
As a food additive, dipotassium phosphate is used in imitation dairy creamers, dry powder beverages, mineral supplements, and starter cultures.[2] It functions as an emulsifier, stabilizer and texturizer; it is also a buffering agent, and chelating agent especially for the calcium in milk products.[3]

As a food additive, dipotassium phosphate is generally recognized as safe by the United States Food and Drug Administration,[4] and is commonly used (in conjunction with other inorganic salts) to add taste to some brands of bottled water.[5]

People will squabble about terminology but Jim Ratcliffe is right.

Many areas of Britain are now totally unrecognisable compared to 50, 20 or even 10 years ago.

My parents came to the UK in the 1960s with only love in their hearts for our country and all the opportunities it gave to them. They served. They integrated.

That’s why the unprecedented levels of mass migration today make me so angry.

The British people have seen how their streets have changed, how multiculturalism has failed and their sense of pride and of history has been altered and distorted.

The have been called racist for speaking the truth. But Britain’s culture and resources have been eroded.

Terminology is not the problem. Mass migration is the problem.

Only Reform UK can fix it.
Ah the old "I'm alright Jack I've got mine"

The Green Party’s been reported to counter-terror police for harbouring extremist activists. Their agenda isn’t about the planet it’s about politics that threaten our country.

The BBC will have to settle this… discovery would inevitably reveal the supposedly neutral corporation’s massive internal anti-Trump bias (they all hate him) and hasten its demise.

You know that's not what neutrality means, Piers.

Everyone is completely entitled to their own personal opinions; for example that you're a loathsome ◊◊◊◊. Neutral reporting only means leaving those opinions at the door, because they mustn't let them bias the facts they report about you. You ◊◊◊◊.

Head back to Uganda then, Sue Ellen.

The Prime Minister does not serve a corporate brand 'UK' - he serves at His Majesty's pleasure. Whether it's the judiciary, the armed forces, parliamentarians, or members of His Majesty's Government, we serve the nation, embodied by the Crown. What Labour are doing is nothing less than republicanism by stealth

Well, she was a Tory. The party of pulling the ladder up after them, taking an axe to the ladder, putting the bits in a big pile and burning them, defunding ladder manufacturers then claiming they've never heard of ladders, what the hell is a ladder anyway?

Did he do history at school??
Domestically, the Revolution [of 1688] confirmed the primacy of Parliament over the Crown in both England and Scotland.
