Exactly. And the EU is banning the word 'milk' from products such as soy milk because some dairy producers think that it will raise their sales because apparently, people are buying soy milk in the mistaken belief it is produced by a cow. The meat industry is pressing for a ban of the term 'veggie burger' because some people may buy it instead of a real burger in the belief that there is meat in a veggie burger. I wonder if the UK is also following suit with the veggie burgers. What's the silliness?
The UK approach to the use of terms like 'milk' and 'dairy' is in line with the EU.
These bans are not enforced to protect consumers, but producers.
As far as I know there is nothing ultra-processed about soy milk (and I think the same goes for oat milk and almond milk).I'm glad of this one, these ultra processed liquids have tried to market themselves as somehow being a healthy food.
My wife suffers from a number of allergies, and soy milk (nowadays marketed as 'Soy M*lk') is a stable ingredient in our diet because it can replace milk in most dishes.
