Trump's Second Term

TORRES: Does the Trump administration regret imposing tariffs on goods that cannot be produced domestically at scale? Do you realize that was foolish?

BESSENT: Do you realize we use the leverage to bring down tariffs on other countries?

TORRES: Tariffs on bananas give you leverage?

BESSENT: You're being very naive

"I know you are, but what am I?"

Kristi Noem: "Most of all we thank President Trump for the guts and the love of this country to do the right thing ... he told the American people we needed a wall, and we have a wall. A big beautiful wall that President Trump also wanted painted black so that it would endure."

Painting a wall black makes it more durable? Is that like how red paint makes a car faster?

I suspect he meant "truth is, we're going to sanitise American history".

The word is "whitewash." It would be that even without the all too relevant racism at hand that just makes it all the more fitting.

Remember when MAGA claimed that they all banded together in order to stop pedophiles, who they said were all part of a Democratic Party trafficking operation? Now, they defend the people who actually operated and participated in a child trafficking operation....

Business as usual for "conservatives," really, with the vranyo of MAGA just removing the plausible part in their usual attempts to create plausible deniability for that.

Here's a cartoon that describes the fat clown and his maga weirdoes to a T:

What wall? Is there any more than the 20% of it built in his first term?
Too late to edit, but I was WAY overestimating at 20%. From Google AI:
As of February 4, 2026, approximately 30 miles of new border wall have been completed since the start of the second Trump administration in January 2025. This construction is part of a larger plan to wall off 1,422 miles along the U.S.-Mexico boundary.

Current Construction Progress (2025–2026)
Total Completed (Recent): Roughly 30 miles of "Smart Wall" have been finished since early 2025.
Active Federal Contracts: In September 2025, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) awarded 10 contracts totaling $4.5 billion to build 230 miles of land and waterborne barriers.
Specific Recent Projects:
New Mexico: Construction began on 7 miles of secondary wall to reinforce existing fencing.
Arizona: Contracts for 27 miles of new wall in Santa Cruz County were awarded in June 2025.
Texas (State-led): The Texas Facilities Commission has completed 66.4 miles of state-funded wall as of June 2025, though the program was recently defunded as the state looks to federal efforts to take over.

Historical Context (2017–2021)
During the first Trump administration, a total of 458 miles of barrier were built. However, the definition of "new" is often debated:

New Primary Wall: Only about 47 to 52 miles were built in locations where no barrier previously existed.
Replacement Wall: The vast majority (roughly 351 miles) replaced older, dilapidated, or smaller fences, such as vehicle barriers.
Secondary Wall: Approximately 33 miles were new secondary layers added behind existing primary barriers.

Definitions and Modern Features
Modern construction often follows the "Smart Wall" model, which integrates:
Physical Barriers: 18- to 30-foot steel bollard fencing.
Waterborne Systems: Buoy barriers in the Rio Grande.
Technology: Cameras, lights, patrol roads, and advanced detection sensors.

Trump-hat.jpg

Colombian president Petro customized the hat PT gave him in their Oval Office get together yesterday. Nicely restrained on his part, Petro has tended to rip Trump a new ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ at every opportunity but is sometimes perceived as doing Colombia no favors when he does so.

So, Trump is now allowing the nuclear weapons treaty to lapse.

Sometimes I wonder whether he has realized he will die soon and is actively trying burn the world as he goes out, just out of spite.
