China

It's it a case of corruption being so off the rails out had to stopped? Corruption in China is endemic but those troll farms were actively harming Chinese financially and physically.

I am assuming such large scale operations that operated cross border needed the military to look to other way.
I think it more of a gang war over divvying up the loot from corruption then any real attempt to clean up .You can bet a lot ofpeople high up in the CCP are among the huge beneficaries of corruption.
And Do I have to remind you that any regime that ruthlessly crushes any oppostion is a bad regime?
It's sad that some people still have the 'Mickey Mao" syndrome, and try to defend the regime in China.

You misunderstand me. I'm not defending China at all. I'm trying to understand the wheels turning.

Interesting response to Trump's visit.

Memes mocking USA & Trump are being let loose, in contravention of the usual policy of stopping things that might embarrass a guest.

I can't read the article to see what other memes are out there, but the thumbnail one doesn't seem insulting to me. Trump looks like he's having a good time, and Xi is joining in too. For a regime that's notoriously sensitive about how Xi is portrayed (remember the ban on Winnie the Pooh?), that seems an odd move if the image is supposed to be an insult.

I hope the MAGA crowd - the people who were crying buckets over Biden being soft on China - are enjoying watching Dear Leader kissing Xi's arse so hard I'm sure he bruised his nose.

Obsequiousness personified.

Guardian: a teetotaller without the balls to say, sorry bruv, I don't drink wine, do you have a Coke handy?

And notable that Xi knows 100% that Trump is anti-booze. Let's serve that pussy wine!

As I said previously I have a strong suspicion that TACO's been a lifelong secret drinker.

Given everything else going on in the world, I suspect most people don't realise China conducted a long-range missile test in the Pacific last week.

Aussie had a bit of a cry about it and China has responded to that with a GFY message:

"Stay away from being a nuclear power, because you don't know what will be the consequence."

At the same time, giving themselves a big up on nukes:

"China has already declared to the world its nuclear launch capabilities can touch any corner, in any part of the world within 20 minutes or so,"

That's scary. Not even enough time to get an Uber.

Just wait until you hear about submarine-launched ballistic missiles.

Also, anything capable of reaching the other side of the planet on a ballistic trajectory is going to have about the same delivery time. China's playing catch-up here, not leaping ahead.

Also, I don't see why Australia is crying about this. From their perspective, shouldn't this be a welcome case of China providing a needed counterbalance to US hegemony in the region?

Move to NZ.

Not only are are we nuke-free and therefore not a target, we are the country of "three firsts" and China likes us a lot.

And Rewi Alley. No CCP is going to nuke his homeland.

Huh. I kind of assumed that China already had ICBM capability for a while now.

Do you need smelling salts?

(Being disingenuous emough to ask a question you already know the answer to is so cute!)

It's hard to imagine anyone, even another high ranking CCP figure, doing as much to usher in a Better Tomorrow as Xi has done. But I have faith that China will leave us all pleasantly surprised.
He's made a lot of enemies in the CCP. Even they don't want this level of evil, IMHO. If he's finished it will be interesting to see which way they move.
