A Texas man detained by ICE was his disabled son’s sole caregiver. His son will be laid to rest without him

Maher Tarabishi’s family had hoped he could be present to say his final goodbyes to his son, Wael.

Maher, Wael’s primary caretaker, has been in federal detainment since October, separating him from his son as he battled severe health complications from a serious and rare inherited disorder.

But despite the family’s public pleas for Maher’s temporary release, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials denied their request, his attorney said.

Now the family is preparing to bury 30-year-old Wael without Maher. The son spent his life suffering from Pompe disease, which leads to severe muscle weakness and heart problems.

“We are profoundly disappointed with ICE’s decision to deny Maher Tarabishi the opportunity to say his final goodbye to his beloved son, Wael,” Attorney Ali Elhorr said in a statement Tuesday. “Today’s decision to keep him from saying goodbye is a reflection of the tragic lack of humanity by those in charge.”

His health declined without his father’s care​

Shahd Arnaout, Wael’s sister-in-law, told CNN the family struggled to care for Wael with his father in ICE custody.

Maher was the one who bathed Wael, changed his clothing, and helped administer food and medication through a tube, Arnaout said.

“He was the one who knew, when his fever went up, what to give him right away,” Arnaout told CNN. “We had to ask multiple doctors to come and see what (medicines) to give Wael because Maher was not there to react quickly.”

At a December news conference, a statement from Wael was read aloud in which he described the relationship with his father.

“He’s the one who keeps me alive when I’m at my weakest,” Wael said in the statement, CNN affiliate WFAA reported. “Without him, I am nothing. Without him, I cannot survive.”

FREMONT, Neb. — A pedestrian was injured after being hit by a vehicle outside of Fremont High School during a student-led demonstration, officials said.

Fremont police said the incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. in front of the school.

At one point, a few students entered the street, officials said. A student was hit by a car that stopped in front of the crowd, then began moving.

The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital with injuries, officials said.

Nebraska Rep. Mike Flood released a statement after the incident.

"This is not what we do in Nebraska - this is not ok. The video of the girl being hit by a car at the school protest is disturbing. While initial reports say that the girl was alert and talking when she was taken away, we are praying for her and her well-being. The incident needs to be fully investigated by law enforcement. It is critical that our country preserve the ability of people to safely protest," Flood said.

PORTLAND — Hassane Barry and his wife, Nene, both asylum seekers from the Republic of Guinea in West Africa, were driving home from an appointment to get their 1-month-old baby a passport last week. On Preble Street, they suddenly found themselves boxed in by four unmarked police cars.

Armed and masked federal agents stepped out and said Hassane’s name. They were here for him.

“There’s a baby in the car,” Barry told the agents. “There’s a baby.”

Agents shattered his driver’s side window. Glass sprayed over the baby’s car seat, Nene Barry said. Her husband was arrested and pulled into an unmarked police car. Officers left the scene in a matter of minutes.

Nene Barry, who does not have a driver’s license and speaks little English, was left alone inside the car with her infant.

“He did everything for us, and now he’s not here. What am I going to do alone with a 1-month-old baby in the cold?” Nene Barry said in an interview this week in French.

Fairly applying what we said about the Renee Good situation, mobbing a car with a running engine is a terrible idea, stepping in front of such a car which is subject to hostile activity is even worse. That could be a deliberate ramming, or it could be bad panicky driving caused by a desire to get that kid who got in the car away from the hostility he seems to be getting from the kids on the driver's side. Obviously they're just kids, not (supposedly) trained cops, so the situations aren't mirrors, and that driving is much more dangerous than Good's, but deliberately ramming a kid at your own kid's school* is a heck of a choice and I'm not quite ready to believe that was the intent.

*Yes, I'm assuming.

Agitator and, perhaps, insurrectionist, Alex Pretti's stock has gone way down with the just released video of him screaming and spitting in the face of a very calm and under control ICE Officer, and then crazily kicking in a new and very expensive government vehicle, so hard and violent, in fact, that the taillight broke off in pieces. It was quite a display of abuse and anger, for all to see, crazed and out of control. The ICE Officer was calm and cool, not an easy thing to be under those circumstances! MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.

Even by the administration's own accounting of events, this was, plainly, an unjustified homicide.

They already ballooned the ICE budget beyond all rhyme or reason.
And the Midterms are coming up - gambling on Trump being able to pull off massive fraud and get away with it is risky.
And the Military will be too divided to actually march on US cities with any seriousness.

Quite possibly, but people like this are going to give them a fight, and one of the things that I think ICE cannot handle well is publicity. They are, after all, masked for good reason. They see it as a license to do wrong, and it has proven so, but it only goes so far. People like this are calling their bluff, because at some point their only response is to commit outright murder on camera, and even if their anonymity helps them individually, too much of that threatens the agency that enables them. Too much of that, and those running the agency will turn on them before the threat topples them too.

The parents were obviously paid protesters, and the baby was supplied by Soros, so they would seem like a normal family. Or maybe the baby taunted them, and spat at them? In which case they showed great restraint in not jailing the baby; instead they probably just took the dad away for some important lessons on good parenthood.

Possibly.
