Trump's promised ICE raids have begun

slate piece on the day laborers being terrorized by ice
For all the grimness of the topic, I appreciated this little tidbit of humor:

Like the store’s sign, the sky glowed Big Orange, hex code #F96302, or Pantone 165 C, available in the paint department inside. And the store was open.

Ecuador’s government filed a formal diplomatic protest after an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent attempted to enter its consulate in Minneapolis and was blocked by consular staff, according to Ecuador’s Foreign Ministry.

In a statement issued Tuesday, the ministry said the incident occurred around 11:00 a.m., when an ICE agent tried to access the consular building. Staff denied entry, citing the inviolability of foreign diplomatic property, and activated emergency protocols to protect Ecuadorian nationals who were inside at the time.

ICE agent rebuffed after attempting to enter Ecuadorian consulate in Minneapolis
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Ecuador’s minister of foreign affairs has filed a protest with the U.S. Embassy after Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents tried to enter the Ecuadorian consulate in Minneapolis without permission Tuesday. A video of the attempt on social media shows a consulate staffer running to the door to turn the ICE agents away. International law generally prohibits law enforcement authorities from entering foreign consulates or embassies without permission. The State Department, Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

BREAKING: Just a week before his fatal fight with Border Patrol agents in Minneapolis, Alex Pretti had ANOTHER tussle with federal agents causing him to break a rib

The dude was a full on MILITANT impeding ICE operations — not a “protestor”

And the evidence supporting this accusation will be presented in ... two weeks.

Remember, in reichwing world the agent that shot Renee Good had been "run over" 6 months ago. So his shooting is justified by his PTSD. However, Alex Pretti being assaulted by ICE earlier proves he's a radical domestic terrorist.

"Paid protesters" says Trump?

Every accusation...

Just because you have to pay people to attend your rallies and watch your wife's film, just because you have to pardon and give jobs to Jan 6 insurrectionists doesn't mean people need to be paid to oppose what your government is doing.

It means you are wrong, Trump. Always wrong. Wrong wrong wrong. You're a wrong'un.

Stumbled across this. Seems experienced agents are tired of what they are ding and do not think the new recruits are adequately trained. Not sure if this offers hope for pushback from within, I doubt it. Also don’t know the reliability of the source.

It seems that the “never Trumpers” have dissolved into a few splinter groups of Righteous Republicans - largely pundits like The Lincoln Project, George Conway, Steve Schmidt, Bill Kristol, Nicolle Wallace, Michael Steele, etc. and some pro-union Republicans, Liz Cheney, who we haven’t heard from in a while, and Adam Kinzinger, who is a bit overexposed (IMHO), where are the old guard party line R’s at? Of course the current office holders are limp-dicked enablers but where are the Bushes, Romneys, the others that used to be adored by the FOX crowd? The old guard can’t be happy with this.
Only because they're jealous of TACO getting to play out their national socialist fantasies. The republitraitor party hasn't been a normally functioning party in decades.

Trump: These are paid insurrectionists. These aren’t people aren’t normal people who are incensed about something. How do you get incensed when you go to a state and you’re taking monsters out?

You don't. Which is how you know that is not what is happening.

When neighbours who have been living peacefully in your community for decades, working hard and making a significant contribution, are "taken out" by armed thugs in front of their terrified children, that's when you become incensed. If you have an iota of human feeling, anyway.

"If we execute one person because we didn't like him, we're suddenly the bad guys. How fair is that?"

"You eat one lousy foot and they call you a cannibal".

Always remember at the start of this nightmare, when Trump strolled magnificently down the escalator at Trump Tower to announce he would be running for President he had paid "supporters" to be in the lobby.

Federal immigration officers have been collecting personal information about protesters and agitators in Minneapolis, sources told CNN – and had documented -details about Alex Pretti before he was shot to death on Saturday.

It is unclear how Pretti first came to the attention of federal authorities, but sources told CNN that about a week before his death, he suffered a broken rib when a group of federal officers tackled him while he was protesting their attempt to detain other individuals.

This has the potential to be even more sinister than I initially thought.

The public safety apparatus is having to clean up all of ICE's "ram and grab" vehicular accidents. Not only are those accidents inherently dangerous to the people around them, but the cleanup efforts are overtaxing what had previously been a right-sized service.
I know there's a saying in safety engineering about there being no such thing as an accident. But never has it been more appropriate than now.
