Pretti had just come out of a restaurant he had been dining at. He was there by pure chance, gallantly helping up a woman who had been thrown to ground by the Proud Boy 'Agent'.

Pretti was lawfully observing and recording law enforcement operations. The ICE agents were pushing protesters toward him, the final act being throwing down the woman with the orange backpack. Pretti ignored ICE agents and tried to help her to her feet. ICE engaged him on their own initiative by spraying him with pepper spray repeatedly from behind as he was trying to assist.

The 2nd Amendment is not implicated because Pretti did not draw his gun. ICE did not know he was armed until after they had tackled him and begun to beat him.

Further, the 2nd Amendment enthusiasts (with a degree of historical support) argue that the prospect of having to defend oneself against a government that has become oppressive and tyrannical is a core interpretation of the right to bear arms. Not only does the 2nd Amendment cover it, it is one of the amendment's primary raisons d'être.

Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey reports on his social media that Pres. Trump has agreed to withdraw "some" troops from Minnesota and is committed to further negotiations to remove the rest of the surge. I think they're starting to realize this is backfiring, that they cannot credibly portray ordinary moms and dedicated, compassionate public servants as "domestic terrorists."

i agree and i also think all these jan 6 mouth breather militia guys they brought in with no screening and training simply can’t conduct themselves in any other way. if they keep them there they’ll keep doing what they’re doing

As Mojo says, they don't, not really- they only want to maintain a base, not persuade anyone outside it. The lies are strictly for the benefit of the people who are as invested in believing them as they are in telling them.
