And that's now how it works. Criminals are expected to satisfy the terms of their criminal sentences before any deportation ensues. This is to satisfy the needs of the victims of those crimes. After the criminal sentence is satisfied, then the state may turn over people for civil removal proceedings. And the Minnesota Department of Corrections has shown that they in fact do that, have always done that, and will continue to do that. They brought the receipts, in contrast with the Trump regime's obviously made-up numbers.Donald wants any and sll criminals in Minessota
What the Trump regime wants is for undocumented individuals arrested on suspicion of criminal acts to be immediately turned over to ICE for deportation without facing their criminal charges, and people serving sentences for criminal convictions to be given to ICE for deportation. That's a clear violation of a state's sovereignty as guaranteed by the 11th Amendment. The Trump regime can stomp and whine all it wants about how Minnesota is "not cooperating" with law enforcement, but the regime has no lawful authority to obtain what it is demanding. This is why they're misusing federal authority to put pressure on Minnesota to do what they are not obliged to do, and which is not in the best interests of the state.
