For many years, I went to the polling station and gave the ladies
at the table my voter registration certificate. They checked it against
the registration rolls, handed it back, and gave me a chit to sign avowing
that I was voting. Then I got my ballot, voted in the little privacy
shelter, fed my ballot into the counting machine, and went home.
Nowadays, I get my ballot in the mail, mark it, and mail it back. No
doubt somebody in Lansing finds me on a voter roll and certifies
on pain of perjury that, yes, I am a born human voter in michigan.
Since you can't register to vote without proof of Michigan residence,
state law is satisfied, and so is federal law. So WTAF more is voter ID
supposed to accomplish?
Flash! This just in: Krusty Gnome sez people better get ready to show proof of citizenship!
Wooo, now I'm scared!
