Jeremy Faust, host of Inside Medicine, wrote, "The two top officials in charge of regulating all drugs (Tracy Beth Høeg) and vaccines (Vinay Prasad) have lengthy histories of anti-vaccine activism, as does FDA Commissioner Marty Makary...[Tracy Beth] Høeg has also been busy manufacturing pretext to overhaul the vaccination schedule, through unsupported assertions that COVID-19 vaccines killed children, demanding that we adopt Denmark’s immunization schedule for no other reason than she is wild for Danish public health (except for Danish government scientists using national data to show that vaccines do not cause autism, which she ignores), and making false or misleading claims about various vaccine regimens and formulations. The presidential memo ordering the vaccine schedule refresh reads like it was written by Høeg, who presented her ode to Danish vaccine policies a few hours before the memo was released. Since these ideas passed straight from Høeg’s ACIP presentation to the White House, it suggests that FDA has Trump’s blessing to begin regulating vaccines into oblivion."

Jeremy Faust (Inside Medicine) reported on the question of deaths that could be ascribed to the Covid-19 vaccine. He wrote, "The final December 5 memo, according to FDA employees with knowledge of the situation, states that under an established WHO framework, zero deaths were deemed “certain” to have been caused by Covid-19 vaccines, two were judged to be “probable/likely,” while five were “possible. Probable/likely cases are those determined to have been “unlikely” due to another cause. But for the “possible” category, an alternative explanation was determined to have been equally likely, meaning that the chance that vaccines were responsible for those deaths was 50-50 at most. From this, it appears that the real number of deaths that FDA officials have linked to pediatric Covid-19 vaccines might be as low as zero—but probably rests in the range of 2-5."

At Science-Based Medicine Jonathan Howard presented more of Marty Makary's video appearances. "We need to be clear about the function of this theater. First, it is a form of COVID revisionism, allowing doctors who were wrong about herd immunity, natural immunity, the vaccines being a perfect panacea, and pretty much everything else to absurdly claim their pandemic vision has been vindicated. We were right about the horrors of vaccine mandates all along! The US Food and Drug Administration intends to put a “black box” warning on Covid-19 vaccines, according to two people familiar with the agency’s plans, the latest move by President Donald Trump’s health officials to undermine a vaccine that was a standout victory of his first term. The plan shocked outside experts, who said there was no basis for the warning.

A boxed warning, which appears at the top of prescribing information for medicines, is the agency’s most serious, designed to warn about risks such as death or life-threatening or disabling reactions that should be weighed against the intervention’s benefits. They can also be used when a risk might be lowered by using a medicine in a targeted way, such as only in certain groups.
Boxed warnings on opioids, for example, warn about risks of abuse, addiction, overdose and death. The acne medication Accutane carried a warning about the risks of birth defects when used during pregnancy. ACAM2000, a smallpox and mpox vaccine, has a warning about complications such as heart inflammation and encephalitis.

The plan to install the warnings for Covid-19 vaccines is being orchestrated by Dr. Vinay Prasad, the FDA’s chief medical and scientific officer and director of the agency’s Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, according to one person, who declined to be named because they weren’t authorized to share the information publicly.

Jay Bhattacharya and Matthew Memoli wrote an article at The Spectator called, "How we cured DEI at the National Institutes of Health." The Facebook HHS page wrote, "NIH Director Dr. Bhattacharya & Matt Memoli: We dismantled the DEI apparatus and refocused the National Institutes of Health (NIH) on its age-old mission: biomedical research that enhances health, lengthens life, and reduces illness and disability for Americans." I cannot find a link to the article itself.

That’s a reality.” So pediatricians across the country continue to administer vaccines because Dr. Jones explained, “it’s the right thing to do.”"
 
About a week ago at SBM Dr. Jonathan Howard discussed Dr. Marty Makary's hypothesis for the origin of Lyme disease, among other topics relating to Dr. Makary. Horse poop. Quite literally, the sorts of quackery that RFK Jr. and friends are now promoting is unadulterated liquid horse manure. It's worse than the travelling snake-oil salesmen of the 1800's. It is actual government policy, not just a few get-rich-quick schemes.

DEI and excellent science aren't ideological opposites. What MAGA people will forever refuse to recognize is all three parts of DEI—diversity, equality, and inclusion—actually improve outcomes when they applied to the workplace.
