General UK politics VIII - The Last Tory

We have a mayor of London, who is happy to celebrate every other religious festival around the world, but just not Christmas.’

@Nigel_Farage grills Mayor of London Sadiq Khan over the lights on Oxford Street failing to mention Christmas

{Pardon me for not gifting the horrible toad a click, but) the Christmas lights on Oxford Street don't mention "Christmas"? Oh, well, how is anyone supposed to know what the Christmas lights are put up for at Christmas time if they don't say Christmas?

BTW How exactly are Christmas lights expected to mention Christmas anyway?

Well lights that literally spell out 'Happy/Merry Christmas' are fairly common, but as you say it's not something that actually needs to be spelled out, and given the number of festivals around this time of year making them 'mostly Xmas but if you're celebrating something else enjoy the pretty, sparkly lights too' is hardly Nero levels of persecution of Christians. The problem is that the selfish ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ have never learned to share.

Now I'm worried that the traditional Christmas lights I'll put on our traditional Christmas tree don't literally spell out "Christmas" so maybe I hate British culture too. Worrying.

Every party in British politics has representation in the House of Lords apart from Reform UK.

The establishment is terrified of us

Farage and his Reform 'party' are very loud, but how do they measure up to the others?

They have 936 county councillors. More than the Green's 885, but less than The LibDem's 3216, the Conservative's 4285, or Labour's 5930.

They have 5 mps, more than the Green's 4, the same as the DUP, but less than Sinn Féin's 7, the SNP's 9, the LibDem's 72, the Conservative's 119, or Labour's 404.

They have 1 member in the HoL, less than the Green's 2, Plaid Cymru's 2, the Ulster Unionist's 3, the DUP's 6, the LibDem's 75, Labour's 209, and the Conserative's 281.

They are a flea on the flanks of politics: disproportionately irritating, but very small.

Weights and Measures laws are EU nonsense.

We should be free to be short measured.

Well, that's what GBNews thinks

The EU mandated Britain measure out drinks with a ridiculous set of measures.

You only realise how silly this sort of perfuncturism is once you go to a country not bound by these sort of structured regulations.

Americans pour better drinks. Repeal the silly EU measures mandate.

What do they think happened before we joined the EU? Have they never heard of English pub measures? The standard measure actually got bigger following metrication.

He was banned from football grounds for fighting.
